Now that I've been studying my son's chart I'm completely stressed out that that I'll die while he's young and he'll have a difficult and lonely life growing up. I've been avoiding his chart for 4 years, a little afraid of what I might find. What do you guys think? Is he going to be motherless? We're so incredibly close right now. I've practised attachment parenting and he's still sleeping in my bed!! I don't undertsand the 4th house saturn, it would seem he would have a harsh relationship with his mother or that his mother may die....
i'm so sad ....

The fourth house can represent other aspects of one's life other than family. Here's an excerpt form Lilly's Of the Twelve Houses, their Nature and Signification (http://www.skyscript.co.uk/lilly_houses.html#4):
The Fourth House.
Giveth judgement of fathers in general and ever of his father that enquires, or that is born; of lands, houses, tenements, inheritances, tillage of the earth, treasures hidden, the determination or end of anything; towns, cities or castles, besieged or not besieged; all ancient dwellings, gardens, fields, pastures, orchards; the quality and nature of the.....

.....grounds one purchaseth, whether vineyards, cornfield, &c., whether the ground be woody, stony or barren.
The sign of the fourth denoteth the town, the lord thereof, the governor. It ruleth the breast, lungs.
Of colours, the red: Its cosignificator is Cancer, and of planets the Sun; we call it the Angle of the Earth, or Immum Coeli; it is feminine, and the North Angle: In Nativities or Questions, this fourth house represents fathers, so doth the Sun by day and Saturn by night; yet if the Sun be herein placed, he is not ill, but rather shows the father to be of a noble disposition, &c.
Bob Marks also has short but useful descriptions of the influence of various planets in the fourth house (http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/fourthhouse.htm):
The Fourth House shows your home and how you tend to act there. It also shows relationship with the parent of lesser influence, usually the father, the first few years of your life, and, paradoxically, the last years of your life, what we become as we get older.
The Sun in the Fourth House: gives a need to rule the roost. The tendency is to have a home that is as showy as one can afford. Luck and prosperity should steadily improve during the middle and declining years, although this one makes for a slow start in life. Unless something else interferes, Daddy was definitely NOT the shy type.
Mercury in the Fourth House: Home is a place of communications. When you are home, the TV and computer are going while, at the same time, you’re on the phone and reading. The older you get, the more you are likely to talk and/or write. Daddy either talked a lot or moved around a lot.
Saturn in the Fourth House: gives deprivation of "normal" contact and affection of at least one parent, usually the father. It can do this through divorce, death, or other forms of separation. Perhaps the parent had to work long hours or their job involved travel. If the parent was around, they may have been aloof or very strict. This can lead to a fear of domestic instability which can make you really want to have a stable, permanent home. There is that Saturn desire to control again. Don’t count on early retirement with this placement. If you take it too easy, your body starts to fall apart, so after retirement, get another job (even if is volunteer work). The plus side is that as long as you keep going, you’ll keep going for a long time. Home and family usually require extra effort to keep things right.
Keep in mind that the influence of Mercury in this house will likely have a more profound than either Saturn or the Sun, as it is closely conjunct the Nadir; although the Sun is technically placed within the boundaries of the fourth hosue, it is so tightly conjunct the fifth house cusp that I would consider it to be part of the fifth house entirely.
I hope this helps! :)

jjgirl,
With Leo (self-expressive) modifying Moon (home, also mother*) conjunct Descendant (others), he may have a very self-expressive mother around him a lot of the time! ;) This is reinforced by unaspected (strong energy) Cancer (home, also mother) modifying Jupiter (expansion) conjunct (energy is combined with) Mars (being) focused in the 6th house (daily work), indicating a daily, expansive mothering making him aware of himself. This is FURTHER reinforced by Sun (self-expression) conjunct Saturn (duty, also authority) conjunct North node (future goals) focused in the 4th house (home, also mother), so maybe you can be an authority figure to your son as well, and teach him at home to do his duty in life.
As to your "dieing while he's young"...take care of yourself, look both ways before crossing the street, and you should live long enough to see him through his adult life! ;)
Mothering,
Tim
* The nurturing parent, here apparently the mother of the child

Was it Neil Diamong that sang the song " You make me so very happy, you make so very happy baby, I'm so glad you came into my life!" ?? Well whoever it was that how I'm feeling about your post!!!! Thanks so much.
It makes sense because we are together all the time!! And, if my deal with the florist goes through he'll be spending a lot of time with me at work!!! I'm definately very expressive, I manufacture a line of greeting cards as a side line business!!
When I searched on saturn in the 4th house I kept coming up with loss of mother, absense of mother, unloving mother, death of mother....ugh been crying me eyes out. I've always been worried about that since he's the first human I've been able to truly love to the degree that I do. Also, was very, very sick and on a major medical treatment for over year in 2004 and 2005. During that time I had to hire live in help because I was so anemic and weak I couldn't take care of him. I know he missed me and resented being sent off to the playground with someone else every day. It was a tough year but worth in the end because I got over the hurdle and am free from disease!! :D
Thanks so much for taking the time to write!!

Thanks so much for all the great info. His father does work long hours and isn't readily available. He's a bit aloof and distant. He tries but he really believes the child rearing is the womans job, as is the housework and just about everything else!! We may well be separating soon as well as I haven't been able to find a decent opportunity here where live so am looking to make a move soon and dh wants to stay....then it will all be quiet, clean and clutter free, the way he would like it to be!! :p
I studied astrology for many years when I was in my 20's but always found myself fretting over things to come and disappointed when the good aspects didn't produce much so I quit looking at my ephemeris, except for a little peak here and there. I don't know what has brought me back into it..well I guess I do we must all be looking for more information, right? Something to help us make sense of this world, our journey and something that points out our uniqueness. But jeeze, have I been fretting again over my son's 4th house Saturn!!
Thanks so much for taking the tie to write..what wil be will be I suppose but I'll hope for the best!!

I hate to see people get so stressed out by their natal charts. My interest is karmic/spiritual astrology and I believe that the natal chart is a gift from God. A piece of Divinity. It is nothing to be afraid of, it is your son's soul map.
Your son is bringing a great deal of family karma into this life, but there are several explanations for the 4h Saturn. It can indicate a former life harsh parenting or lack of a father figure. One parent in this life may be distanced from the child for some reason. This looks like more with the father to me with his sun placement. On a positive note, Saturn in the 4h can indicate that the soul will receive constructive discipline leading to self control and self confidence! And that may come from you with the easy aspect to the moon. And you (the moon) sitting on his DC.
Saturn in the 4h can also indicate that in this life your son may need to take up some kind of family responsibility related to position, inheritance or profession. Some family duty or obligation that is karmic in nature.
He also has a mystic rectangle?
The intercepted 4/11 axis is also very karmic, especially since it contains the nodes.

Oh I forgot to tell you that the 7h moon indicates it is possible that you and your son have been together in past lives.
