Hi Everyone
Can anyone please recommend a book/site on retrograde planets. I have the Erin Sullivan one, and I'm sorry but I need a different approach.:o
The books people have recommended on this site have all been wonderful - easy to understand and have resonated.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
If you are interested in Karmic Astrology, you can do no better than get the selection of books written by Martin Schulman, one of which is 'Retrograde Planets'. It takes some getting into and you can't just jump in and turn to the pages that describe any placings you might have. But if you are prepared to wade through each descriptive chapter of the retrograde process, it provides much valuable insight.

Hi
There's this excerpt from Martin Schulman here: http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/showthread.php?t=290
Quite insightful...

Thanks guys
This book is wonderful (sorry I've already got it :) ), it actually made a lot of sense. I bought it after reading the thread. Thanks Radu, for finding it,:) I was beginning to think I had imagined it, I couldn't pick it up on a search, for some reason. Never mind, I shall digest it properly now - it was way over my head before.
I was looking for something from a different perspective, too though. What I think I really mean is I need to look at this from several perspectives, the Schulman one works for me, but I need another to translate the Erin Sullivan one! :o Dare I mention, I'm like that with anything by Liz Greene, too!
Fris... Yes, I am interested in Karmic Astrology - well I do seem to be going that way. Do you have any recommendations, please?
Thanks a lot.

Hi Hel,
Schulman's books (not all of them) are the only ones I have studied in regards to karmic astrology, so I'm unable to recommend others; sorry.
What is the difference in approach to retrogrades between Schulman and Sullivan. Does she give them a different meaning?
If you want more insight into them, have you thought of studying them through the decanate of the sign they are in as well? I 've found this adds just that bit more information as to what to expect from them. But I think decanates get a raw deal in general, so I might be biased. (smilie wink!)
I'm a fan of Liz Greene. Her books can be difficult if one is only into event-orientated astrology, but I consider her a must if one inclines towards psychological astrology ( I have Scorpio in 3rd house!). Her Virgo Sun logic hits the nail firmly on the head, as well as my Virgo Ascendant .....but that's just me. (smilie grin!)

You are an absolute darling! :) :)
I have been trying to think what decants were - I knew I had read about them (in the very early stages and didn't need to duck as they flew past!:o ), but couldn't remember the word. How dense is that! I shall have to look them up again and see if my retros make any more sense. At the moment Schulman sums up my retro merc very nicely, especially with his phases - I think so far in advance, I get totally lost and wonder why people can't understand me.
As to Schulman v Sullivan - Sullivan is a bit more technical, with the actual mechanics of the cycle. Even with bits of paper, protractors and my daughters spyrograph, I couldn't work out the cycles. But thanks to all the good people on this forum, I found a diagram turned thru 90 deg , at www.khaldea.com (http://www.khaldea.com), and now the mechanics make sense! I've just got to wade through the material again. I think, they are basically saying the same thing, just Sullivan is a bit more on the psychological apporach. I don't understand psychology very well, so I'm having to learn two new languages - psychology and astrology! I think that's why I find Liz Greene difficult. However, once I've translated them via another few books, I find them very informative and useful. I'll keep returning to them, and understand them. Eventually. (Sco rsing, and merc/sat con in the 3rd!)
Must dash for now.
thanks again
