I am looking for ideas on going professional as an astrologer . . . just a little thing, on the side.

I know I feel silly saying this since most here know more than I do . . .

However, in my normal circles, I know much more about astrology than most people and I find myself answering lots of questions, and a few people have suggested that I should do this for money. I have been doing this for years so I am not a newbie at all. the only thing I don't have experience with is transits and so forth. Mostly I would answer questions about the marriage chart, vocational questions, look at people's children's natal charts. There is another, non-astrological message board I frequent where I can advertise in my siggie (for a small fee) and that is where most of my queries come from right now anyway. I'd be doing the same thing, just making a little money off of it.

If I were to go that route do you have any suggestions? And specific experience from other professional astrologers?

Ethically, do you ever feel guilty or anxious about making mistakes as an astrologer? What I like about doing it purely as an amateur is that I don't feel the pressure to get it 100% correct. :whistling: Which I make sure to point out to the friend.

Hi Devoted. As a professional astrologer I would say that one of the first things you want to do is to test your forecasting abilities, your writing/editing, along with your people skills. Practicing astrological as a professional is not easy, and to be an astrologer, you will have to have a tough skin, because of the challenges this profession brings; the time-consuming work of astrology demands commitment.

Mistakes will always be made, simply because we are human, however, a professional astrologer is more likely to catch mistakes before consultation with clients based on the experience of always triple checking calculations, and going over all reports for clients before submitted.

It takes years of study and practice. Astrology is a discipline which, if mastered by those who are committed, provides rewards for those who do practice. It also helps if you have another profession you are interested in that is connected to the future work you may perform as a professional astrologer. Working in the fields of psychology, history, journalism, and/or the sciences would greatly help you to be able to someday become a professional astrologer.

Much will depend on your own personal placements according to the date of your birth, and your secondary progressions at this time. However, you will want to continue to read, study, and be a keen observer of the natural world, global events, and of course, making certain that you can become expert in reading an ephemeris.

There's more, but I'll stop here for now. I hope this has helped you a little.

Hi Devoted,
I've been a professional astrologer for years now. Its a very satisfying and worthwhile profession. It might be an idea to check if you need accreditation in the country you live in. Some countries also require you to sign a code of ethics.
Also-your qualifications may come under scrutiny. Not trying to *put you off*-not at all- just want to make sure you are not going to get into strife as a result of not knowing the ins and outs.
Good luck to you.
