sigs trine each other with negative reception?

I know that a square between sigs with positive reception can bring a more positive answer, but what about a trine between sigs, but with negative reception?
We had merc in gemini in the 7th applying to trine jup retro in the 3rd. Merc is in the detriment of Jup, so not that keen. Jup is in no dignities of Merc.
