This is Gunther Gebel-Williams, he worked in the circus as a performer training large animals to do circus tricks. He is known as the greatest wild animal trainer of all time. However, he has had injuries in the past through nasty bites and has needed 300 stitches.

I was looking for the "Wild Animal Trainer" in his chart. The Sun is conjunct Neptune in Virgo the sign of detail, work, and skills, the conjunction symbolizes a more service orientated purpose, and it is placed in the the intellectual 3rd house of communication, short distances, and travelling daily. He was taught how to train the animals kindly through the fine art of communication, and he didn't use harsher methods of training like whips etc. Gunther's chart ruler Moon is conjunct Jupiter in the 4th house, adding a sensitivity, and bond to Jupiterian activities.

According to Charles Carter an unusual devotion to animals can be seen when the Sun or Moon are in Jovian signs (Sagittarius & Pisces) or in aspect to Jupiter, or an aspect between Jupiter and Neptune.

The circus performer - Singleton Mars is in Leo in the 2nd house square Uranus in 11th, sporting performer, and I was reading yesterday in the Inner Planets that Mars in Leo needs to find a creative outlet where they can shine and be first, he expresses this in how he earns his income but in a more adventurous way (Mars-Uranus connected to the 2nd) involving the group (11th house Uranus) and in entertainment (Leo). He is not sitting in the corner of an office all day.

Astrologically for the unpredictable animal attacks, you would probably look at Mars-Uranus, but there is something in this aspect that thrives on excitement, it keeps the adrenaline pumping (Mars). Uranus in the 11th house can be involved in eccentric groups, like the circus or astrology  it depends on the aspects. Uranus in 11th house is opposed his Moon-Jupiter conjunction in Libra. With the Moon-Jupiter in the 4th house, and if you didn't know what he did professionally all day you would describe him as being at home (Moon in 4th) with people from different cultures, religion, or an emotional attachment to his beliefs, or large animals which would probably be the last thing I would say on the list, because it's not the first thing that comes to my mind on the Jupiter checklist lol.

He has :jupiter: (expansion, also animals) exactly :trine: (energy goes very easily with) :saturn: (duty, also career), so it is not surprising he has a career with animals. Here is a sample of things that are "Jupiterian":
Leisure time is also one of Jupiter's pastimes. Sports of all kinds, games of chance, and a stroll in the park with the family pet (Jupiter loves animals) are all ruled by this Planet. Finally, Jupiter often presages great wealth, material and otherwise. This is a good friend in the heavens!

And it is interesting that his Sun/Neptune do not seem to make any major aspects to the other planets. I cannot see the degrees however to confirm this. His Moon is very much emphasized, with Cancer rising, and being in the 4th, conjunct Jupiter, and aspecting Saturn, Uranus and Pluto. So his emotional energy is energized, which is what animals feed off of. His Sun conjuncts Neptune and is disconnected from everything else, making it easy to delve into his emotional realms with Jupiterian animals.

These horoscopes were built by psychologists on psychological type, instead of on events of human life.

Good point Tim, I never noticed this aspect or the exactness of the trine, it is probably why he also had such easy authority (Saturn) over the animals (Jupiter) without having to resort to harsh training, along with his career involvement working with large animals.

Yes I agree the Moon was emphasised, often the circus is like one big family because they live and train with each other daily, and are always travelling (Jupiter), maybe this is why the Moon-Jupiter themes are emphasised, along with the love of animals.

One time the animals in the ring didn't recognise him because he had put on an outfit that he had never worn before and looked unfamiliar to the circus animals, and they launched an attack on him. Gunther had to quickly rip his shirt off so the animals could smell his scent again. Your right the animals did feed off his energy and were only comfortable (Moon) with him.

I am not sure I fully understand your response, I will try my best to answer. The data is from Astrodatabank rated A, so it's fairly good but obviously we prefer the AA that you get from a birth certificate.

Concerning what can be seen in the horoscope, it is always a matter of debate depending on the astrologer you ask. Horoscopes to me describe many things, and Gunther's interests in animals is just one of them. It can be reflected in his psychological type which was seen as Neptunian (Sun-Neptune) and Jupiterian (Moon-Jupiter), and quite a strong lunar influence. Human events, interests, or career mark the development in life of the individual, and can be viewed alongside the psychological type, and to my mind they are not separate from each other. But this is my personal opinion, and we will all view it differently.

The name Williams was the name he had taken on, it was the circus owners name who employed him. The husband died in an accident involving horses and his wife asked Gunther if he would take his place, and he added Williams to the end of his name.
