Settlement from hotel injury?

I took a bad fall outside a hotel lobby, caterers left ice cream there....My friend said I could get a Nuisance Settlement, so we filed an Incident Report...Will I really get any money for this? (Would be nice I'm at the end of my rope with bills right now).
Are they the 7th?
