This is my first post, so hello everyone!

Well, I was checking out eris and asteroid lilith in my chart, and was wondering if you should consider aspects made to them as vaild or not. I have heard some people are for it and some are opposed, as in they only consider aspects formed by the traditional "planets"

What are your views?

Hello! And welcome to the forum, sequinedfan!

Of course aspects made to them are valid. However, I would use very tight orbs.

With Eris, especially, I would use an orb of no more than 2 degrees. Eris is one of those extreeeemly slow-moving planets, like Sedna, that really doesn't change much over time. Actually, I don't count aspects to Eris and such unless they are exact, except for the conjunction, which I allow about a 2 degree orb for. An exact conjunction to Eris can be a very strong influence to the planet conjuncting it. (This goes for transiting aspects to the natal, as well.) I kind of see Eris as a great big rock in the road that is gonna impact your car when you drive over it - and it ain't gonna be pretty. :p

Lilith, I would treat as the other asteroids, with probably no more than a 3 degree orb - 5 degree, maybe, at the very most. I'm kind of still up in the
air about orbs with asteroids. I just know with transiting aspects, they don't have much of an influence unless the orb is tight - so I'm assuming that it works the same way natally.

Hey freedomlover

Thanks for all the great info and especially the warm welcome! It was very much appreciated. :)

In my natal chart I noticed that eris and asteroid lilith helped form what I think is a grand sextile. It is in fire and air, and I am still trying to piece everything together, but I think it is one.

I just want to be sure, I guess, since I am kind of new to astrology.

Well, maybe I should post my chart:

That is an exact sextile you got going there between Eris and Lilith, so I would count it. Not exactly sure how to interpret it though.... hmmm.....let's see now......

Eris is in the 11th house, normally ruled by Aquarius sextile Lilith in Aquarius in the 9th house. Eris represents strife, discord, and competition - so this concerning 11th house issues - friends, rebellion, connection to the higher mind/intelligence/groups,freedom, equality, etc.

Lilith is a man-hater, and so this represents possibly something that you have resentment/issues with men over..... Aquarius again - so pick something from the 11th house/Aquarius list in the last paragraph, and match it with 9th house issues.... belief systems, religion, teachers, etc.

It's also interesting that you have an exact Mars/Venus conjunction in the "me-first" competitive sign of Aries in the 11th house.

Also, transiting Eris has been, is currently, and will continue for awhile to sit on your natal South Node at 21*Aries- also in the 11th.

Does any of this ring a bell with you?

Oh, one more thing..... you literally used the Asteroid Lilith #1181. I thought you meant the asteroid Lilith on the astro.com list of asteroids you can highlight and add. Personally, I don't see much difference in the interpretation. However, it might be interesting to see where the Lilith in the astro.com list of asteroids shows up in your chart. It should probably add another layer of interpretation. You might also try Black Moon Lilith - h13 is the code to type in.

Wow. Thanks for the interpretations. As far as lilith being a man-hater, I jibe with that in the sense that I have problems with a lot of what men say and do in society, their behavior towards women and the whole macho mentality. Even though I am a male myself. I tried Black moon lilith and it is exactly conjunct my sun in gemini in the 12th. Pretty interesting...
Do you think the venus/mars conjunction in the 11th could signify the desire for equality between men and women?

Thanks again for all the help!
