Hello Radu and all,
Simply technically requesting the RSS feeds and Live Bookmarks features that have been supported by many web browsers.
Astrologically, here is the horary chart with regarding to my request:
April 29, 2006 08:06:04 (ST GMT+8 ) Wang Tau Hom, Hong Kong (114E11 22N21)

Uranus is seemingly situated well. Good for technical stuff? Any opinions?
Ceres in Aquarius in the 9th- stands for RSS feeds in the World Wide Web?

This is interesting 3 leg kitty, thanks for the idea. Do you happen to know how it is done? Anyway I'll look into it and see what I can do. It'd be cool.

I've never hold a phpBB forum indeed. How fun is it to pretend to be a geek!
There is a stuff called "RSS Content Syndicator MOD" which should be easily be installed, without pain, no medicine needed:
http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=144548&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=&sid=f650cadee2538dd2f91d1b2230a560fb
I guess the thread is long enough but just I really don't know the jargon for phpBB. So it's left to you! Thanks.
But still one more for reference from Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_%28file_format%29
I guess it maybe my natal twelve house Sun and Mars seldom make a forum for the others to access, right?
wow, a good brand new name,
3 leg kitty
Hi and thank you for your response
I figured it out and here it is, the orange thingy on the navigation bar (Firefox users).
Anyone wanting to have a one click access to the latest 50 posts, read this short explanatory article: http://www.astrologyweekly.com/rssfeed.php
It is really easy!
Many thanks Kitty, this will make our life much easier ! :D

Yep, some more suggestions regarding to RSS:
1) The default name of Live Bookmarks is now named "RSS Feed: Latest 50 Posts on the Astrology Weekly Forum" - maybe a bit long for Bookmarks. I suggest a shortening to "AW Forum: Index"
2) The short explanatory article is right very well. Just to remind here to Firefox newbies that a Google Toolbar is not a must for Live Bookmarks.
3) The RSS Feed is also available for each part of the forum - Astrology Now ! Natal Astrology, General horary, etc...good to add to the explanatory ariticle.
4) Would it be more simple to just show the last posts for the same thread in the Live Bookmarks? i.e. Each topic just shows once, because a click to the last post would direct the reader to the whole thread already.
All are welcome to suggest on this. For those who didn't try Live Bookmarks, get to learn a bit! It rocks!
One things to add astrologically is about my synastry chart with Radu. I'm not going to explain long but I discovered that our plantery connections seems to be exceptionally well!
Anyway thanks, Radu!

Hello johan,
If you can see things like that (assume in a browser) it's sucessful. That is it:
http://www.publicupload.com/files/screenshot_awf_live_bookmarks.PNG (http://www.publicupload.com)
Live Bookmarks is related to a web browser, one of the implementation of RSS feed, while the RSS feed feature can also be used in other RSS readers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rss_reader).
Oh no, it's too much...

It seems that the Live Bookmarks take the title of the page where they are clicked at. That's why I recommended changing the name.

Right.

Actually it is available from each page of the website, forum included.
The next step is to include a separate Live Bookmark for new articles, but this would mean to have new articles all the time, which is not possible at this moment.
4) Would it be more simple to just show the last posts for the same thread in the Live Bookmarks? i.e. Each topic just shows once, because a click to the last post would direct the reader to the whole thread already.
Not possible unfortunately. The bookmarks are forum related not thread related. They may be set to reflect latest posts in certain boards (one or several), though, but in this case they will miss new posts in all other boards. It would take a Live Bookmark for each board, which is unacceptable.
Thanks for posting an image! It makes it much easier to understand. I'll do that too, in the short article.

Well something like this,I get the orange button(RSS feed) to the upper right and the one related to AstrologyWeekly in the upper left.Still don't know what Live Bookmark means but will find out in time.... :)
You copied the whole page ,together with the toolbar, something I cannot do,I am not that technical.Normally you click the right button and than you can copy and paste, but it doesn't work with the toolbar.
Anyway I can see the last 50 posts, for the rest I will learn in time 8)
Edit:I understand what live bookmark is now
Great idea! One suggestion though... could you possibly add an XML or RSS icon to the bottom of the forums, linking directly to the feed? I use netvibes.com as my RSS reader and in order to add a feed you need the direct URL.
To clarify some of the confusion:
RSS/Live Bookmarks/Webfeeds/XML feed, etc. is a way to publish web content. Tiny snippets of the content and a direct link to the content are placed in an XML file, a "feed", and is updated when the content changes.
For instance, say you have a blog. Typical blogs are updated quite frequently and if you weren't using RSS, you would go to the main URL and just read the posts. If the blog had an RSS feed, however, you could add that feed to your favorite RSS reader (there are a ton of online and offline options) and could get links to each individual blog post and a short description.
Good sugestion, Sam, thanks. I found a "mod" that does just that: generates the newsfeed for newsreaders but also allows you to choose from which boards to be notified of new posts.

Ah, sorry about that!
Why sorry?
I forgot to tell the link - go here http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/smartfeed_url.php . I hope it works.

I do not see this is necessity. When I enter the forum and clik on "View posts since last visit" I get the same thing! I do not need to install anything!
Goca, install FeedReader (http://www.feedreader.com) (free) and you'll see the difference. Then go to the Newsfeed (http://astrologyweekly.com/forum/smartfeed_url.php) and generate the URL for the RSS 2.0 newsfeed, for your preferred options. This wonderful program will make forum reading so ****' pleasant. Even more, you will be notified everytime a new post is sent by a message in the bottom right corner of your screen, the same way YahooMail or Gmail does, by instant message.
When I want to reply to a certain post, I open Firefox and click on the Live Bookmark corresponding to that post. This is as straight forward as one can get. Really easy.

Radu,
Will the RSS Feeds features be available after the forum upgrade? I've been a bit addicted to it.
Many thanks,
Three-leg-cat
Yes, they will, just give me some time, to solve the database issue and apply a nicer style to the forum.
OK, done. Just delete the old RSS feed and apply the new one.

I've finally got a browser that will support this ...and...I Can't get it to work!! :o
My browser says clikc on the orange button and copy the code - It doesn't work.
Help! What am I doing wrong? Please help a techno-dinosaur!
Thanks
hel
Left click on it and click OK on the new little window that pops up. This will add the feed to your bookmarks, from where the feed is easily to consult.

I didn't notice the RSS Feeds have been resumed lately until reading this post.(Coz my Firefox theme turns the original orange icon into a mild earth tone colour.) Thanks anyway and the feeds now look neater and pithier!

I'm not getting another window when I click the organge button :( .
When I try to do it manually I get this error:
We couldn't find the RSS file you asked for http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/smartfeed_url.php
Suggestions:
- If you got here by clicking on an "Add to My" button, please notify the referring site's webmaster.
- If you entered the URL yourself, please check that the URL is correct and points to a valid RSS file.
I guess i still can't do it - it not being quite the same thing.
thanks for your help
take care

What page were you viewing when you click the orange button?
The link you referred to above doesn't exist already. It has been removed.

Stupid me :o
Stupid stupid me have also just realised that the orange button isn't actually on this page its on my browser. Although it does only appear on this site, not on any others I visit.
Is there a link I can use? Or do I just have to wait for my browser to catch up!
sorry to be a pain
thanks

Hello hel141,
Now there are many web browsers that support RSS Feeds(Mozilla Firefox, Flock, Opera, etc...)
I assume you use Mozilla Firefox (probably 1.5.0.4) as Radu has made some introduction here before. So here come the introduction and tutorial on RSS Feeds and it's implementation as Live Bookmarks,
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/livebookmarks
http://johnbokma.com/firefox/rss-and-live-bookmarks.html
And I assume you may see the orange button in the right hand side of the navigation toolbar(address/URL bar) when viewing this site:
http://astrologyweekly.com/forum/index.php
Then, follow the instructions from the above tutorial I hope that's okay.
If you know the way to go, here is the feed link you ask for adding Feeds manually:
http://astrologyweekly.com/forum/external.php?type=RSS
I hope my reply would help.

Big hugs Three Leg :)
If you know the way to go, here is the feed link you ask for adding Feeds manually:
http://astrologyweekly.com/forum/external.php?type=RSS (http://astrologyweekly.com/forum/external.php?type=RSS)
I don't know the way to go, but this link worked!!!
I'm using yahoo, so its a bit different. I've now have the last few posts on my home page, which will do for me. The forumis permanently open on a tab page, anyway, but now I don't have to search through for the last posts.
Thanks again, you have been a great help:)
take care
