Hi there, anyone & everyone.

I've been using Halloran software - the basic one - for forever, and whilst it has served me well, I'm now about to spring for something with a few bells & whistles. But it also must be easy to use. I've even downloaded StarFisher, the Open Source program, and whilst it's OK, I don't much like the look of the wheel it throws out.

I'm now trying to determine between Matrix Win*Star Express and Janus 4. I really love Janus 4, and if money were not an obstacle I'd have ordered it by now. Currently it's available for US$149, which is pretty cheap, really, until you convert it to Aus$$, and that makes it well over $200 in our crummy money.

Anyone using Janus?
Do you have any comments about it?

(I've noticed a sticky thread on this, but it seems a bit out of date.)

Hi R4VEN,

I don't use either of these software programs........But, I'm wondering how much use (if any) you intend to make of the "interpretation reports" produced by each.......And whether the Janus4 option of producing them in "UK English" would influence that at all.

(I use a UK program which produces interpretation reports and allows me to amend or replace the interpretation files with my own.......I never use these reports, because I dislike their "passive" style of writing and amending or replacing the files with my own interpretations is a time-consuming process which has yet to produce a "satisfactory" result, despite lots of attempts.)

So, what I'm really asking is........how much use would you expect to make of the "all singing and all dancing" features offered by the two programs?....(I only use mine to calculate charts.......but I paid a small fortune to acquire the many features within it which I thought might be "worth having".)

Hi R4ven! I am using both Matrix and Janus; Janus is great for chart rectification, ingress charts and to view direction with your natal chart It is a great software. Matrix has features that Janus does not have like the extra option ra of declination graph Lilly planet weight ect...the professional Matrix cost about 300 dollars. Data entry in Matrix is fast and easy. Janus has the Europian way it is confusing at first. This is up to you I like them both.

Hope I have been of some help, Sysiphus:60:
