Bluemen,

Weird question but I will ask you as this aspect sort of haunts me (alot) and I haven't met anyone with it or been able to read much about it.
What would you think the affect of this aspect would be on two people... considering that the contact is the ASCENDANT not a planet

Her: Ascendant 13 Sag. Him: Vertex 13 Sag
Her: Vertex 27 Cancer. Him Ascendant: 27 Cancer

My Vertex is the midpoint between my Venus and my North Node.

Hello Wildflower,

I have seen the Vertex used a lot in karmic and esoteric astrology. Due to my beliefs, I do not practice these kinds of astrology, neither I use the Vertex.

The points of his chart touched by your Ascendant indicate the way he will relate to you, the first and most immediate impression you will make on him. According to Stephen Arroyo, contacts between the Ascendant and a planet often indicate the way and circumstances in which two people will know each other, will enter into each other’s lives. Also you will identify with the side of his personality symbolized the planet in his chart that touches your ascendant.

As for the Vertex: the Vertex symbolizes lack of choice, “fateful encounters”, a sense of fatedness in the encounters you make with people, a sense of being fatefully attracted to each other, destined to meet. As I believe things to be determined by the will of God I find it quite difficult to accept the notion of “fate” the way is it indicated by the Vertex.

My experience in working with this point is non existent, however if I had to give an interpretation of your synastry aspect, I would say:

- you met each other due to a set of strange coincidences (if this truly happened, check if there are any contacts between Uranus and the AC, Sun or Moon)
- both of you think that you had to end up knowing each other (for this, also have a look at Neptune-Sun and Neptune-Moon aspects)
- somehow the attraction you feel for each other should prevail on your reason. You are unable to stay away from this man and the same goes for him, you feel as you were co-dependent. (this is indicated also by Pluto-Sun, Pluto-Ascendant, Pluot-Moon contacts)
- you see him as a “mother figure”, somebody reassuring in a motherly way even though he is a man, while he could be taken in by your dynamism and self-confidence.

Wow Blumen, well that's pretty uncanny and accurate given your take on the vertex.

Let me address just a few your points:

As for the Vertex: the Vertex symbolizes lack of choice, “fateful encounters”, a sense of fatedness in the encounters you make with people, a sense of being fatefully attracted to each other, destined to meet.

The first time I met this person was in 1995. The appointment was set for 3:45 pm, but he was held up and we met ten minutes later. Imagine my shock when I drew up the event chart and discovered last nmonth that the Event's Chart was exactly at the angles of my birth chart. Thus at the meeting, 11 years ago, the Ascendant was 13 Sag/the Descendant 13 Gemini/the MC Libra 1/the IC Aries 1 and of course that Vertex 27 Cancer. I cannot imagine what the odds of that are. It must be outrageous.

- You met each other due to a set of strange coincidences (if this truly happened, check if there are any contacts between Uranus and the AC, Sun or Moon)

Yes. My 13 Asce Sag does trines my Leo Uranus in the 8th House and my Aries Mars/Moon in the 4th house. And guess what his Uranus is the same as mine (>1 orb) Thus, his Uranus trines my Ascendant and the rest of that configuration.

You see him as a “mother figure”, somebody reassuring in a motherly way even though he is a man, while he could be taken in by your dynamism and self-confidence.

This is 99.9% accurate. I find him to be very reassuring and gentle. I think he finds me dynamic. LOL. I am unusually exuberant in his company (which even startles me sometimes.....)

Awesome comments and insights.....
