The first house

I am new for this site and in this forum with indian background, observing the western rules of astrology, I am not a master but a learner in this fileld.A basic question that i would like to discuss is, How you establish the first house in a birth chart? By sun sign by moon sign by a rising star in a Zodiac or with any other aspect.
