i have stared reading that:
http://famguardian.org/Subjects/MoneyBanking/Articles/ItsJustTime-MartinArmstrong.pdf
what i found interesting author desribes economical periods and those are very similar to planet cycles. What i know we are in time of big changes pluton netering aquarius and uran saturn oposition, those threads were discussed already many times. but when you that somone just observing only ecionomical chages can see somo otrological patern( planet time movement) makes me creppy, and free thoughts any discusion. We see thas something big is coming and we should prepare for that(am i wrong?)
So, you are postulating that Mandelbrot and astrological cycles could be related.
Interesting observation.
Given that everything in the universe is related (we are all complete within ourselves, yet still parts of the bigger whole), it seems perfectly reasonable to me.
As to whether the market is pointing to the Decline of Capitalism, and the Fall of the U.S., I can only hope Armstrong is wrong, or at least very premature.
A few of the graphs (consumer confidence @ 309yrs, and political change @ 224) are interestingly close to the Pluto return cycle.

There is a branch of astrology called mundane astrology that deals with events, rather than with individuals' horoscopes. Some astrologers do think they can predict stock market cycles, national tragedies, and the like by tracing planetary movements and aspects. Others dispute their claims. So I think as of now, the evidence is suggestive but not conclusive.
One thing to consider is that if you isolate aspects between any pair of planets, as well as their sign locations, they have pretty much all happened before. The past isn't always the key to the future, but it can suggest what to expect. Sometimes dire predictions about, say, Saturn opposite Uranus, ignore the many positive things that happened during this aspect in past centuries.
Mars conjunct Jupiter today right? The President just called for more US troops to go hit up Afghanistan.
Isn't this a beginners room? The topic seems to be about world economics, and I don't want to deter anyone from studying what they like, but if you are interested in astrology, you need to start at stage one, and begin with yourself and those people around you. Mundane astrology is advanced astrology, and you just can't study "world" anything until you master the basics..... natal astrology, transits and synastry.

Your point is well taken, Lin--but when people are astro-beginners yet curious about topics, I think it is OK for them to initiate a conversation. To the best of my knowledge, having dabbled in it a little, mundane astrology is sufficiently different from the interpretation of horoscopes for individuals that one probably could begin learning astrology through it.
For example, seiw3, in a person's horoscope, the Moon has multiple meanings, but the most common ones are one's needs, feelings, emotions, home, and mother. In synastry, having two people's moons trined, conjunct, or sextiled is a great help, as it confers a feeling of feeling "at home" with one another. In the astrology of individuals, the 4th house concerns one's home and early childhood conditioning.
But in mundane astrology, the moon symbolizes "the people" and civilians vs. rulers and authority figures; and the 4th house, the public interest, as well as the opposition political party in parliament/congress. So these are quite different!
