Im not sure what my sun sign is? help

I am fairly new to astrology and i only know the basics;signs, houses, elements, planets,ect..

my whole life i thought i was a pisces, but when i got my chart read for me it turns out that i am an aries, but i dont feel like one. could my chart possibly be wrong?

Hi,

It's pretty common to feel totally different than your sun sign. You could have a different rising sign or many planets in a different sign. Your sign is your inner self, your potential self, you'r blueprint. You're rising sign is the way you appear to others, behaviours...then there's the moon, which could also be a different sign, that's your emotions, subconscious, needs, and habits...This is my simplified understanding. It could be that you have many planets in Pisces, or that Neptune -the planet ruling Pisces-makes many strong aspects to your major planets.

You should post your chart and maybe someone with a bit more experience could take a look.

Just one thing: it's very important to have an accurate birth time.

Hi Aries86,

It is disorienting to find you are something different than originally thought. Before the days of the ease of casting charts by computer, I thought I had an Aquarian rising not the Capricorn one I have..... but it was easy to see where I got the idea once understanding the chart ruler was Uranus and that I have planets in Aquarius in the first house.

I suspect we will see the same with your chart, that there is an active 12th house, a well aspected Neptune, or the Moon and or Ascendant is coloring your
Arian Sun.

You said you have done a chart. Can you upload it here to see? or give the time, date, and location of your birth so a chart can be cast?

According to the birth data you gave you're an Aries Sun with a Libra Rising (nice combo btw ;)). One reasons you may not feel like an Aries is because your Ascendant is in it's opposing sign (Libra) and the charm, patience and tact of Libra counterbalances the bold, brash traits of Aries.

You're right on the cusp of Pisces and Aries but personally I don't subscribe to Sun cusp influence--You are definitely an Aries Sun [*IF the birth data you gave is accurate] but you also have a Cancer Moon (exalted there and it also appears on your Midheaven) and Mercury and Jupiter in Pisces (in the 5th House) so it natural that you would identify with some of the traits normally attributed to Water signs.

When the sun changes sign on your birthdate, having a correct birth time is really important. But the good news is that if you were born with the sun at 0 degrees Aries, this is supposed to be a very powerful point in the chart--the so called "Aries Point". So we look forward to good things from you.

As it is, you have two planets in Pisces, and its natural ruler Neptune is quite a focalizer in your chart, meaning that it makes a lot of aspects.

Mike pointed out your highly "elevated" moon in its own sign of Cancer. This is a very strong placement, giving you a more "watery" nature.

Your situation reminds me of my mother's, who was born on the day when the sun moved from Libra into Scorpio. She preferred to think of herself as a Libra, but the longer she lived, the more I think she exhibited Scorpio qualities.

Note also in astrology something called the Barnum Effect, named after the American circus owner and showman P. T. Barnum. He proved that if he built up people's expectations, he could make them believe that his fake side-show and magician acts were real. If you've thought of yourself as a given sun-sign for a long time, you may focus on those aspects of that sign that do seem to fit your personality.

The Cancer Moon is a strong feature in your chart. The Moon is in her sign of Rulership. There would be some similar traits to those you know of Pisces, as the Moon is in the same element, water. The biggest difference between them you will see is that Cancer (and your Ascendant Libra and Sun in Aries) are all Cardinal signs and Pisces is a Mutable sign. So you are more comfortable taking the leadership role than a Pisces sign would indicate. The Sun being on the Descendant (7th house... house of partners and others) has you operating in such a manner that you uplift others to satisfy your ego, and are willing to stay a bit in the shadows.

I can def. see how my moon in cancer effects my personality. The thing that gets me is that i dont seem to feel any of that fire energy, which happens to be dominant in my chart, i feel the water is stronger. i tend to be somewhat shy rather than outgoing, also being an aries, i should have alot more energy, while mostly i feel tired and drained.

I can see why you may be shy, Moon in Cancer trine Mercury in Pisces. It's such a watery combination and the Moon is all about your emotions and unconscious habits/what makes you feel comfortable. Mercury has a lot to do with self-expression and how you communicate with others. I'm still learning so I really think someone with more experience should look at this, but I think it's why you feel so "watery"
