View Full Version : A Scary Progressed chart?

Okay, I'm new to the progressed chart thing, and I know very little about it. I know it's how your natal chart progresses throughout your life, but I'd like to know how to interpret it. Does it simply mean that, for example, my Sun is now in Pisces, that I will act and feel more like a Pisces? I'm sure that is an oversimplification. And how does the moon progress? Obviously my Sun just went to the next sign, but I'd like to know how your moon moves about the signs. I took a look at my p-chart, and to be honest, it looks scary, with a lot of squares and oppositions. Biggest one being Sun opposite Moon (Pisces and Virgo, respectively). I posted my chart here. What am I supposed to look for, do I read it like a natal or is there another method?

mostly I think you have to look for hard aspects progressed planets make to your natal planets - conjunctions, oppositions and squares. Those would cause some effects, related to the houses and planets involved.
Simply do the overlap of your natal and progressed charts, and use only 1-2 degree orbs for aspects.
When you would look at that chart as a natal it would be uneasy, yes, but aspects between progressed planets themselves are not important, to my understanding of it.
Also, if your natal Sun is Aqua, and progressed to Pisces, you can probably eel certain changes, but not overall change of personality. Natal position is still stronger;)
For me, the process is as follows :-
1. Natal chart shows the issues we are dealing with throughout our life.
2. Transits show events that enable us to experience/learn about our issues.
3. Progressions show how we might be changed over time by that learning.
Generally then, progressions are about internal/psychological changes. So, someone with Mars in Aries (natal) might have had enough accidents (transits) to learn to be more cautious by the time it progresses to Taurus. Their impetuous Mars in Aries nature remains with them for life - but they have learned how to minimise/overcome it's negative effects.
Thus, in the progressed chart, I look for planets changing signs/houses; for aspects becoming stronger/weaker and for changes in the direction of forward/retrograde planets (in relation to the natal chart). But, it's main role for me is to identify which transits are about learning natal chart lessons - shown by the relevant planets being "highlighted" in all three charts.

Aquascorpio, the progressed chart is usually drawn for the day of your birth, because we are looking at it from year to year. Slow planets hardly move of course and can stay for most of your life in the same sign, but the faster one's do move 1° per year approximately. The Moon moves about 1° to1.5° per month so that comes to about 12 to 13 degrees per year.
You should never be afraid of squares or oppositions. After all, these are energies, albeit somewhat difficult to deal with. It needs a bit more input from your side to deal with the T-square in your progr. chart then when it would have been a Grand trine. Squares show extra effort, hard work to find a solution or really physical hard work at times, extra pressure and oppositions show that there is conflict in the areas indicated and that you are asked to find a balance between the two planets. Most of the time these tensions will be felt inward, sometimes things happen in the outside world which cause you to deal with this. Squares can be very beneficial and help you reach your goals. An opposition is actually a relationship aspect, you versus someone else.
The opposition falls between houses 4 and 10 and could happen in your family or in your career. The Moon rules your 3rd house, so maybe there could be a problem you have to solve with one of your peers or another family member.
Sun rules your 4th, so again, a family member, maybe something you have to balance out or work through or solve with one of your parents.
Venus rules your 5th, so maybe, if you have children, there could be something you have to sort out with them.
The T-square deals clearly with partnership, 10th house and again the 4th house of home. The exact aspect of Mars with Saturn has already past, but the conjunction is probably still noticable and it can therefore be that during a few years, this tension provoking aspect will play a role in your life. It might have started about 2 to 3 years ago. Some difficulties have to be worked through in either business relationship or marriage relationship.
A Solar Return for the year, starting on your birthday, could give some insight into what could happen.

Prog moon like T Saturn takes approx 2 1/2 years to go around chart.

Prog moon takes a lighter touch, like if it moves into fire, suggests more energy independence, if it moves into air then more communications, if earth more practical hard working ambitious, if water then more sensitive emotional etc etc.
Prog moon houses shows in what areas/houses your emotional nature will want expression.
Its only really conj, square and oppositions that you will notice and prob all these are internal changes, sometimes subtal. But of course if prog moon onto sun, moon, venus mars are very noticeable for relationship progressions....
