Pregnant or bloated?
A friend of mine was losing weight recently, awfully skinny, and then, blam -- complains her stomach is sticking out so much. She tells me that time of the month hasn't come yet -- and if she was pregnant, it would have to be awfully accidental and not intentional .. ;)

Sagittarius is ascending. Supposedly the barren signs, according to this site are gemini, leo, and virgo.

The fifth ruler is sitting in her first, and just left sagittarius into capricorn, which is supposed to be a sign of no. However we note that venus's relationship with her dispositor saturn isn't bad, saturn is the second most powerful planet in the chart, and has mutual reception with venus as well, so the typical affliction in capricorn is eased, as venus is esteemed and attended to. Hm .. however, still, venus makes no aspects.

Venus is separating from a biquintile to the moon, maybe the opportunity of pregnancy occurred.
The moon will be entering the fifth house, though into the barren sign of gemini.

I think I'm going to tell her no ... ;)

I would be inclined to say 'yes'. The Moon is in Taurus, a 'reasonably' fertile sign and the sign of the Moon's exaltation. Venus, the 5th ruler, is in the 1st: the baby is 'in' the mother. The Moon has separated from a trine to Jupiter. However, the Moon applies to oppose Mars...so perhaps the pregnancy wouldn't 'take', as it were. However, as you note the relevant planets aren't in especially fertile signs.

I'm always interested in pregnancy charts, because there doesn't seem to be one fixed way to read them. They're good to learn on. Let us know.

man (woman), i thought i was getting the hang of this horary thing and now i'm totally confused! are the 'rules' different if the nature of the question is different? would we not look at any aspects the moon is going to make? opposing mars first? (and only before changing signs) and what that shows ... also, i don't understand how the moon is entering the 5th? does the moon go retrograde? or am i just completely missing something?
maybe venus makes no aspects b/c the baby wouldn't come into contact (per se) with anyone for months? or is that just way too loose an interpretation ;)
how's this for loose - venus looks to be an exact trine with the 5th house cusp ??

The moon is about to enter the fifth house simply because that is the movement of the planets, going clockwise around the chart.

Now we also know she'll be changing into gemini very soon because of the late degrees of taurus.

And yes, there are specific rules for different natures of questions. But 'considerations' would be a more accurate way to describe them. Just check the other pregnancy threads to see what I mean, and how people go about determining the answer.

Now the chart does and with an opposition in mars from the moon. Mars is a malefict, especially in this chart, but with minus -1 points and cadent it is of little harm. My friend also told me her man, whose younger than her , would totally not be a happy camper.

Anyway, in a way we could say the pregnancy won't 'take', but venus is the strongest planet in the chart and has a healthy relationship with her dispositor. So at the same time it would be strange to say the baby is of bad health.

We can also see that mercury and mars, the girl's boyfriend have mixed positive and negative reception with venus and moon significators, which is adverse feelings as well as estimation.

It is uncanny that venus is conjunct pluto, which is transformation, which is also in the querent's house.

I just noticed the moon is conjunct algol. That can't be good. What's your opinion on that AG? It could definitely signify either a failed pregnancy or possibly abortion (she never told me her intent on the pregnancy if she truly was). It could even signify time in the hospital or something.

I will keep you guys updated.

Hey Guys,

I thought I'll give my interpretation too, still learning, but am also reading Horary Astrology by Anthony Louis. There is a pregnancy chart interpretation there too, which is helpful in this case.

I think RA your friend is pregnant, as 5th house ruler is in 1st and trine 5th house cusp. Moon in Taurus, which is a fertile sign, I believe, could point to pregnancy. However, there is no aspect between Jupiter, sig of the querent and the ruler of the 5th, Venus.

But if we conclude that she is pregnant, then we look at end of the matters for the baby, which is 4th house from the 5th -that would be the 8th house in the chart. There is Cancer on the cusp and Moon is the ruler. The next aspect for Moon will be an opposition to Mars, a separating aspect. Could mean - End of the pregnancy.
Mars is also the ruler of querents 4th house of end of matters (aries on the cusp). Could mean the querent will end the pregnancy. Mars in 12 th house, house of secrets, secretely end the pregnancy?

If we look at the health of the baby, we check 6th house from the 5th, that would be the 10th house in the chart with Libra on the cusp. Venus is the ruler and is located in the querents 1st house. The querent has the health of the baby in her hands, could be one interpretation.

The 8th house from the radical 5th will give us more clues. 8th house, house of death, we can read as termination in this case? 8th house from the 5th is the 12 th house of the chart, with Scorpio on the cusp and Mars ruler located in baby's 8th house of death, its very strong there. With Moon (baby's 4th house ruler) opposition to Mars, it clearly points to termination, I would think.

I Wish your friend all the best, whatever the outcome.

Cheers,
R

Hey, it's interesting though, because mars isn't that strong it has minus 1 points by the essential dignities table. The lore of infortunes according to Lilly he says, I think, is that if they are debilitated they are hostile, but if they are cadent, they are of little power to cause mischief. Venus has 23 points and is too strong to be subject to mar's hostility. Maybe the baby will be overcoming such things.

I also took into consideration the significators are benefics .. venus, and jupiter.

I appreciate your interpretation too, it was very good. :D

There is no aspect to jupiter by venus, but jupiter is in venus's triplicity. Venus is in face of Jupiter.

She still doesn't know yet.

I just realized my comment on the moon changing into Gemini -- could this be a sign of twins?

Update -- she's not pregnant. So my initial post was right -- fifth ruler is in a barren sign, and is making no direct aspects to the ascendant ruler... so... = no. Also, the fact the moon is moving into a barren sign next = another no.
