Dear all,
I just received my Astrological Magazine "Astrologie Heute", a German magazine, which I receive 6x a year.
They had an article which really caught my eye and awakened my (already great) interest in the Sabian Symbols.
It analyzed the upcoming opposition between Saturn and Uranus with the help of the Sabian Symbols.
As we know Saturn and Uranus by themselves already show opposite energies:
Saturn - Uranus
Old -New
Conservative -Progressive
Laws- Anarchy
Guarding the old_ Changing the old
Setting borders- Breaking borders
Traditional -Unconventional
Continuity -Constant renewal
Constrictions- Freedom
There will be 5 returning opposition between these two planets over the next 2 years:
1. on the 4th of November 2008, 18°.58 Virgo/Pisces
2. on the 5th of February 2009, 20°.39
3. on the 15th of September '09 24°43
4. on the 26th of April 2010 28°46
5. on the 26th of July 2010 0°25 Libra/Aries
Now for each of these oppositions we can look up the Sabian Symbols and by doing that, getting the message of the opposition.
The Virgo-Pisces axis can be called the "crisis axis", because with these two zodiac signs, we are getting to the end of both halves of the whole Zodiac and so it represents a new beginning after that which means that we have to round off or bring to an end, the processes which accumalted up to this point. This can therefore only be called a crisis period and that is exactly what the world is emerged in at the moment.
At the beginning of the new signs, Libra and Aries, the days and nights are of the same length and therefore also the connecting the energies which now have to be balanced out.
Lets have a look at the Sabian Symbol for the 1st opposition: 19° Virgo, Saturns place.
"A SWIMMING RACE" basically showing competition. It also shows capitalism according to one of the keywords. Very suitable for this election day!
For 19° Pisces, Uranus's place: "A MASTER INSTRUCTING HIS DISCIPLE"
Keywords: To give and receive. Lessons that need to be well learned, taking time to instruct others. Laying down the law with someone. Being or setting a good example.
The key here is for everybody to join forces and steer towards a more spiritual goal.
What everyone should do is not trying to be better then someone else but just doing the best we can by ourselves. This symbol points to the political and economic situation at the moment. The danger is that Saturn, instead of bringing a solution to the global problems, still could try to make the most profit out of it all, whilst Uranus in Pisces could show how the worldsituation could potentially become better and how change could be the key for doing this.
Apart from looking at this most important mundane aspect, it is of course also very useful to look at your natal chart oppositions (and any other aspect of course) and see what you find there. For those who do not have a book on the Sabian Symbols, I will find a link and paste it here.
