I have been learning astrology for a time now. I know I have Venus in Libra. Can someone tell me if it is good in the first house? It is in the first house. Hope that it's an ok question. :)
Of course is good, a planet in its own sign is always good, especially in the 1st house where it has plenty of space for manifesting its good nature. It's totally "sweet". And, oh yes, I have Venus in Libra too - nice to meet you pal!

Hi, so how would you interpret Venus in Libra in 1st house then? I always thought in the 7th house is its natural home, so the 1st must not be so good?
Nice to meet you too.:)
Let's say a very kind and affectionate nature, looking for harmony in life and self expression, great looks and stylish dressing.

What house is your Venus in?
As far as looks and dressing go, I am pretty average. But affection is something I can identify with, though do feel alone quite a lot... which seems to be the exact opposite of what Venus in Libra implies... don't you think?
That's why I thought 1st house is not a good place for it.
It always depends on the rest of the chart.
For instance if your rising sign is Virgo, the situation changes concerning looks/dressing.
Or if Venus is badly aspected, you'll still be the same kind person, but in a different environment and you will adapt your personality to those external influencing factors. Look for Saturn or Pluto for instance.
Affectionate persons can still be lonely at a certain time if they aren't with the right person to express their romantic side with. The Moon has also lots to do with emotions and intimacy. Venus in Libra says however you will eventually attract true love... :) unless some really other nasty elements are present in the natal chart.
My Venus is in the 10th/11th house (close to the 11th cusp).

Venus in the first IME seems to have an innocent and forward sensuality, o even an agreeable or likeable way of comunicating, presenting theirself..usually found quite attractive...many are just plain physically attractive. But there is usually some innocence that that people find attractive...I like to call it apparent innocence.(laugh)
I refuse to like them for that reason alone..just to anger the universe.(joke)
Welcome to the forum, by the way.
Fergie, the singer, I believe, has Venus in the first aries...maybe that would be a chart you would find interesting being it's an opposing sign with aries there...
I like to try to find those types of charts to see how they bring something forth...how it is manifested, and try to see how the difference may be since I have the opposing sign there.....yet the same planet....I'm talking in circles today and lately, sorry. Or maybe I just can't read my own writing.
planets near the asc. (if it is conj.) are very important planets in a natal...so the planet should be a large part of your self expression...or beingness.....personality wise you will bring that planet forth along with the asc as your..mask...what people often call their self.
I have also read that being venus is in the asc. others across the way...7thHouse will view one in that way or see that....that is how they will view you....as venusian....I don't totally agree or disagree with this, I'm not sure...they jury is out and they like to take their time, eat donuts drink coffee, etc.

I actually have never known a Venus in Libra, but I know it's better to have that placement than to be in detriment, Aries or Scorpio.
My friend has a Venus in the 1st, in Aquarius, and I believe her first house Venus makes her wear her heart on her sleeve, so to speak- she has horrid luck when it comes to dating guys, but when it comes to showing affection to her friends and love ones, she feels so hurt when it is not reciprocated in the same way.
I would think with a Venus in the 1st you would be very obviously affectionate and loving with someone, is that true for you?

I would love to believe what you said about Venus and true love, but I think that it is lost. I think that it is not possible, even false love. Can you really equate love with Venus in Libra? I am not wholely convinced. Wish it was so.:)

I don't equate love with Venus in Libra. But these persons have a well defined perception (and appreciation) of love and romance in a pure form, so they are likely to go look for it. They wouldn't agree on an union not based on true feelings and would not pursue any further a relationship where love/affections ceased to exist.

How should it be hard?
I think it is meant to be good. But maybe requires me to be the one to give the love... I don't know.
My experience says that each time I was ready to "unleash my Venus" and specifically and intensely asked the Universe for that, I got it.
Basically you should be able too, to invoke the Venusian vibes to manifest in your life: meditations, prayers, visualizations, music, talismans etc.
Venus in Libra should generally be lucky in love.
Transits or progressions involving Venus/7th house will provide the windows of opportunity you need.

Well, I'm not saying it's not meant to be good or bad, I was just curious to see how it is effecting *you*; I would think it might be hard to deal with because if you are so obviously out there with your "heart on your sleeve" so to speak, it would make you more susceptible with getting your heart broken and what not.
Would you think it would make you more susceptible? Heh, sorry, I can be a bit of a dark one with my Venus conj Lilith aspect, in the 8th house.
Anyway, with Libra- hmm... Venus in Libra, well when I think of Libra I think of balance, justice, and of course beauty- Venus is a planet of Libra, so... I'm not sure if it is exalted or not, can someone clarify that for me?

No, I'm saying the 1st House is in opposition to the 7thHouse...sorry I'm having trouble saying what I want lately...
With venus as the ruler of libra...so to speak, and in opposition to what I see as it's natural house there may be something to it...but many libra ascendants are successful....even with every sign in it's opposing house...so ti speak.(laugh) I'm still not sure just how much the signs=the houses..aries for first etc. But I always thought it intersting that all interpretaions for the houses looked much like the representation for the signs that are usually there if you start out with aries on the ASC.
In your case venus is opposite the seventh house but it is also in it's proper sign...even if I like it better in Taurus....I personally think venus suits taurus better while venus does well in libra...libra is diplomatic, airy, views multiple sides, judgemental, but not as sensual.....and the seventh seems to be a house of friends, associates in a way....or the romantic partner is very commonly found to have the sun in ones seventh house in synastry....
I do not always know what to make of the 1stH 7thH axis....but venus does from my expereince work very well in libra and in the seventh house....it grounds the air element in my opinion....it seems all the earth type planets work very well in the air signs...I think it has this effect....a grounding....making the air more practical..or in the case of venus, more possessive..I see venus as a possessive planet with similar troubles that jupiter has with excess just in a different way....
venus aspected hard can indicate too much in a way....a venus person with hard aspects to it can be a little over the top in sensuality and things of the flesh.
Hard aspects may be a jupiter square for example....although even the trine is said in Vedic Astroto be detrimental, or whatever...negative...I didn't pay too much atention there, I should have, I have the trine.
Talking about love and venus I have read venus in cancer is love often...but once again, looked into it little...it's funny how the aspects I have I ignore...maybe I really don't want to know that much about myself..(laugh)..who knows.
Venus in libra will not tolerate insincerity in love I believe...but there may be compromise in love.....maybe...thats for the venus in libra to say.
I have it in cancer, another cardinal sign, square libra.
I almost refuse to compromise in Love as well, so it is odd that square signs with different actions, can be so similar....It has to be love or no other in a way...or at least thats there, I'd have to fight it to have it any other way and have...with venus so sensual and since I see it as more earthy in water things get murky in a way.....things can get heavy, lots of sympathy in love...in air I can only imagine it to be more loose, but with compromise....maybe a willingness to make sacrafices for one another...stick togheter....maybe you stick to yourself in a way, you may compromise....Im sure by house venus in Libra is differnet....in the first I sometimes wonder....
Charts with libra on the asc always perplex me...I don't know what to think of the house sign layout....it makes for an interesting person I havn't figured out.
I'm not exactly a pro, I don't know everything.(laugh) and just looking at a planet in a sign in a house is still to vague to really tell...as Radu mentioned, and he's smarter then me, there are other aspects that would effect venus if aspected, then their house placements etc etc etc that are going to effect your venus and how it manifests.....o what influences ou to bring forth whatever it is you bring forth.....
You mentioned that it maybe is you that has to give the love...I though that intersting if it is how you naturally are and didn't just read it somewhere...because aries is a doer, from self outward seems to be the action.... and I think it intersting that in the first maybe venus acts as a doer, and there is some I there but not entierly selfish sounding.....so maybe thats the Libra....the great compromiser...aries will not compromise, or at least does not like to.....libra will.....so to see those two things over one another in a way still baffles me.....but I could be taking a very wrong aproach....I'm slow in developing theories sometimes....I want the observations to make the theories...it takes a while to make ones own observations...havn't seen enough charts or personalities to say....
I don't know...
Asrotheme has a way to check planets in houses I believe then it goves a list of celbrities and personalities....if you find one that you have had a natural interest in before, that can be fun to look over their similar placement of venus by sign and house and it gives one a change to see how the rest of the planets and their placements effected how venus came about for them....but I would check to see if the birthtime is correct, even if listed in astrotheme........a certain nitpicky virgo some time ago mentioned astrothemes ability to make up birth times, and while I don't know much about that, I still like to check...

tsquare thank you for that extensive response, you have really given me some food for thought, especially as to your own placement of Venus in Cancer.
I am intrigued by the thought of a similarity of Venus in the 1st with Venus in Aries.
However, I am of the thought that the sign is definitely the MODE of expression and that the placement of the planet shows where it is done... Always a little tricky with that one.
For examply Jupiter placed in Sagittarius in the 3rd. That is a similar kind of counterintuitive placement. Jupiter is still dignified, isn't he? But he will be writing down his thoughts and philosophies because it is 3rd house... right?
In 1st house Venus is acting on the appearance, and on how you affect people and what they might see in you, also what you give out to the world. I agree with Radu on that one. Venus in Libra in the 1st is not like Aries at all, but must in a way expose that love that they feel up front, though it is up front-Libra if you get my drift.
Put it this way: try and explain what Mars in Aries in the 7th would be like... (an agressive partner, agressive people in your life... but you of course would be signified by the 1st house and not that mars in 7th):)

I am intrigued by the thought of a similarity of Venus in the 1st with Venus in Aries.
I have to butt in (pardon me) and say one last thing before I let you off again ;); I have a Venus in Aries, in the 8th and I do have to say that there might be slight similiarities between the two, but I have to say that I do not wear my heart on my sleeve for all to see.
I can be a bit too impulsive, jumping from one guy to the next (as I have in the past), lately I've gotten better with that- but if you can say that you can relate to me on that level, then perhaps you can prove me wrong on that theory.
Venus in Aries has a tendency to rush into love without thinking at times, and unfortunately I have experienced way too many a time; I am truly having to wait for a guy right now with his 12th house Venus in Cancer, that is difficult for an 8th houser such as myself to see into.

Ok then we are as different as blue and black.
I don't jump from anyone to anyone. I wait a long time and hope that I find someone eventually, this is why I said at the beginning that Venus in Libra feels so alone. They, we really are looking for the perfect love and won't settle for anyone, it has to be based on something really special and meaningful. That's me anyway. Yes, I thought we might be different but wasn't sure since that person made that comparison, I thought.. now how could that be, but perhaps.
My Venus first house friend does not jump from person to person at all either, in fact I think she is too picky at times, hmm ;) Of course she has definitely helped me with my jumping from person to person, so yes. Seeing this post just made me think of her horrible luck with love in the past and even now; at times I think it would be good for her to open up her mind more to those out there and not be so picky, but obviously she knows herself better than I do ;)
Mind you, I don't jump from person to person anymore, that is in the past, but that tendency is still there inside me if I ever so choose to act on it
Patient like a Taurus, that almost made me think you were saying you were a Taurus and I thought- whoa, how could that be, Sun Taurus and Libra Venus, very far apart hm? Yeah.
But keep in mind, one can feel alone and still be romantic with someone, correct? Now that I think about it, seeing you post this here, I see that it is not the Venus in Libra but really the first house Venus placement that would make one wait for the "right one".

I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have Venus in Aries in the 7th house. Or in Libra in the 7th or in any sign in the 7th...
But as it stands I have planets where they fall and you can't change the day you were born can you. I guess you count your blessings right? :)
At the moment I am alone and feel very lonely, don't have many people I can talk to. So much for Venus and Libra.:) Sometimes feel like maybe if I had more confidence I could have more friends and maybe someone, but that's not really me.

I think to have a Venus in Aries in the 7th would be interesting indeed, if I had that placement... well I wouldn't be so bloody picky about whom I correspond with and such, friends, or whomever.
Libra Venus in the 7th would probably...well.. Libra's house is the 7th, so it would give that whole want/need for partnerships/balance/equality an extra push in that direction, I think it could be a powerful Venus indeed; but where ever your Venus is, it all depends on the house placement, aspects to other planets and etc; in the 1st house, what else do you have, if you don't mind me asking?
I feel very lonely too, I have few close friends (or friends period, who live in the area anymore) and I have my new boyfriend, but that's it for me- I spend hours upon hours alone, but what can you do? I'm hoping when I find another job I will make new friends and such.
Loneliness is something I know all too well; well.. hm... do you have any other Libra planets, or do you have anything in your chart that you think would add to this?

Neji, you seem like too nice a person to not have anyone. It makes me sad that there are so many people who are alone, and they don't know why, don't know what to do about it.
I have Pisces in the Descendant, with Neptune squaring it, which makes it difficult for me to see people clearly and myself, as it is in square motion with the Ascendant also.
I guess having Venus in 1st house makes me very comodating of people who often I find push me around, which is why I end up simply choosing to be alone, and then end up feeling "why am I alone?" Venus doesn't have any hard aspects at all. Only a semi-square with the Sun, which is not really one of those hard aspects... maybe it is, but I don't really see it as such.

Ooh, a Pisces DC? Then you and I have that in common, we are both Virgo ascendants; right now I am struggling badly with Uranus hovering still over my 7th, do you find it hard to make long lasting friends because it?
Aw, well thanks. I am not alone persay, but in my heart at times I feel it; my two Leo friends are far away from me now, my Libra one is- the only ones I have left is my good Scorpio friend and my good Pisces friend, a couple of acquaintances I see hardly ever.
No, a semi-square, I wouldn't think, would be a hard aspect- well, I would look at your current transits, where is Venus in the sky now in relation to your planets, do you find that helping or hindering you? Is it in relation somehow to your natal Venus?
I have a Cappy Neptune which squares my sun and that is a bit hard to deal with at times.
It makes me sad too, to see those who are alone or seemingly so, or who wish to have more people in their lives but don't.

25 degrees of Pisces to be precise, which means that Uranus will be conjunct some time next year... maybe this will brings some new people...?

Few and far between, few and far between my dear- I suppose you aren't inclined to sharing about the Uranus above your 7th, but that's fine ;)
Anyway a Pisces Sun with a Pisces DC, quite interesting and true to your Piscean nature, hm? I have the sign which is on the beginning, Aries, so it's a bit amusing to me that I have a Pisces DC- but it fits my 8th house planets, the Scorpio in me (Aries planets, but with an overtone of Scorpio, thanks to it's native house).
I also have a good many Scorpio planets in the 3rd, so I know how it is to be watery, but unfortunately not secretive with my loud mouth Arian nature ;)
Oh? Well good luck with your planned changes and I'm sure you'll find people soon, I'm sure you will if you lay yourself out there for people to see you, if that so makes sense.
Pisces Sun, Libra Venus and Virgo ascendant- an interesting combination indeed.

Of course is good, a planet in its own sign is always good, especially in the 1st house where it has plenty of space for manifesting its good nature. It's totally "sweet". And, oh yes, I have Venus in Libra too - nice to meet you pal!

I would like to make it clear this thing because in a lot of books I read I found that Venus was in exaltation in the Pisces sign and sometimes I didnīt find it in exaltation: so, can you tell me the truth lol?:) And if it reveals true, can I hope any good situations of celebrity in my life as being actor for example ??
As Neptune rules Pisces and is the higher octave of Venus which naturally rules Libra, unconditional love is the ultimate expression. As for being an actor, you need to have a strong 5th house, Leo and Sun. Also Jupiter helps. to be in the limelight you need a strong 10th house. Sometimes Sagittarius points to acting as it is the planet of exaggeration. Neptune and Pisces can be involved with film work, television and the cinema.
Post your chart and we can see what is what.

thank you very much for spending time on my natal chart !!
Claire, you can find my natal Chart attached in this thread: you will note that Iīve got a strong Jupiter because of its conjunction with Sun in Capricorn even if it is in its debility...Conjunction Venus Mars in Pisces sign in 10th House (career) which is passion in work...for all that, I have no planet in 5th House !!

Hi everyone,
I have Venus in Gemini in 2nd house.I like to communicate to know as many people as possible, but after that they want to get close to me.I feel not very good with that.I haven't had too much luck in love life.I get easily annoyed , and i don't like to be forced to do something, i have also strong Uranus in 7th, so that;'s how i explain all pitfalls in my love life.

As I have taurus ascendant which is ruled by venus, and Sun and venus in pisces.. does this mean I am ruled by venus?

Venus would be considered to be the 'ruler of your chart' or the chart ruler.
However there are other placements which can be as powerful. Things like 'final dispositor' or a singleton planet.

I have Venus in Libra too but in the 8th. We need to see what aspects your Venus is making but in the 1st is an attractive and pleasing position to have it. Let us see your chart.

Yes Venus is your chart ruler and its aspects and placement is very important. YOu are the more practical side of Venus with Taurus which enjoys beauty which can be useful such as pottery and you may have a pleasant singing voice as Taurus rules the throat. You may have a love of horticulture and enjoy growing vegetables etc. It is the yin Venus as opposed the LIbran Venus which is yang and more detached and airy.

Once again we need always to see the whole chart. You can put it up anonymously.
Venus in Gemini is an airy intellectual placement that likes variety and novelty. Can be restless and have more than one love at a time. It is the social butterfly and in the 2nd house of our personal assets and income you can attract money but being the good communicator, salesperson, linguist, teaching, especially with the internet, everyday communications such as cell phones, faxes etc, mail order business dealing with beauty products, many different scenarios.

Venus in Libra is what I have and we have to remember that Venus deals with the dynamics of relationship and the compromise, the seeking after harmony and balance. Neptune can contribute to a sense of loneliness and being alone. Venus shows what we love and what can make us joyful.

Venus in Pisces strives for the higher expression of unconditional love and is a sympathetic and undiscriminating position. Can also be fooled by love, taken advantage of and fall victim to the hard luck story, giving money to a hopeless cause.....
