Astrology can tell you the exact time of your marriage. However this is quite a bit of work, work in which Astrologers get paid to do.

Aaron, how does this method work? im quite curious... i consider marraige in the free will realm, or is it influenced astrologically in some way?

Milos, you need to attempt to analyse your own chart first before asking for help, as per the forum rules. How would you read your 7th house, for example?

Whether a natal chart can be used to predict a marriage (assuming the individual ever gets married) is a matter of disagreement among astrologers.

Well you first analyze the Nativity, there will be indicators on whether or not a marriage will happen early, mid-life or laterlife. Those with Saturn in the 7th House for instance will have delayed marriages, at least after 30 years of age. You must also look to the 7th House of the Solar Return, this will give greater detail. If marriage is promised a specific year in a solar return (which is evident through the dignity of the 7th Lord and conjunctions between the Lord of the 1st and 7th or the Lord of the 7th in the first or Lord of the 1st in the 7th & etc.).

In order to find the specific time of this occuring, we look to the Directions, there are a few specific Directions which show marriage (off the top of my head I believe one is Venus directed unto Mars but dont quote me on that). Finally we look at transits as well which should confirm both the Solar Return as well as the Directions predictions.

If all of these point to marriage, the individual will marry at that specific time. All of these charts can be broken down into a specific time (in fact if one is very anal about it, down to the specific hour and minute but thats usually more work than what most people can afford ;)). I wont go into that in any more detail here because it would require me a few pages to explain but you get the jist of it and I hope that answers your question.

As far as free will is concerned, from what ive read and experienced through my entire life, everything is set in place regardless of what we do to change it. Astrology only confirms my experiences regarding this. I have found many events in my life to be quite "destined" and set out. It is however up to you to believe as you wish and I will not push my beliefs of free will onto you. However from my experience I believe it doesnt exist (and interestingly enough, I find my life being predetermined and set out a lot more comforting than random happenstance). Free will is of course a philosophical issue which could be debated to the end of time so we should focus more on Astrology. On that note, an Astrologer once said that all events have already been layed out and have happened. These events will repeat and restart from the beginning when all of the Planets align to their original positions on the creation and it will repeat for eternity until God sees fit to end it.

As far as Astrology and predicting major events, anything can be predicted through Astrology, the only limitation is the Astrologers ability and knowledge. Once an Astrologer knows where to look for this prediction and how to interpret it, the sky is the limit concerning things that can be predicted.

Well, my lord of the 7th (venus) and lord of the first (pluto) are in their natural houses, and in direct opposition to each other. What do you have to say about that?

Also you said something about venus and mars, i have tried to figure out conception charts for a few people, and for me and a few others the father has had moon on top of mars. Also fathers often conceive of at least one chile around the time of their birthday.

Being a traditional Astrologer I do not use Pluto in my interpretations, my reason can be found here;

Thats interesting. I find usually conception is promised through Solar returns the most. If it promises a fertile year, then I narrow down the timing more exactly.

astro.teacher, great post, I like all you wrote but especially this part with what I agree completely. For longest times I wished things could be influenced to happen the way we want them to, but... no such thing. everything happens regardless of our wishings:rolleyes:

now, back to more concrete stuff - you say for predicting marriage you first analyze 7th house, but what if information there is contradictory? Say you(me, in this case;) ) have Moon in 7th that could say early marriage, but Capricorn on the cusp, Saturn ruler in 4th. Would you give more significance to the tenant or the ruler, there seem to be varied opinions on this, and I'd like to hear yours.

Yes I agree.
We can probably choose how things tend to manifest under the broad astrological archetypes, but other than that .. I too agree things are very much destined, but I also do not think free will and destiny are two different things.

Unfortunately, I don't think the traditional predictions work 100% of the time. I once suggested to a woman worried about her love life and with Capricorn on the 7th house cusp and an afflicted Saturn that this placement didn't mean no further marriage, but that it often suggested a marriage later in life or to an older person. She subsequently admitted that she had been in a longterm marriage already, but was leaving her husband. I suspect that astrologers do not look at a random sample of the population for time-bound prognostications.

The other problem is that the institution of marriage is not what it once was. Many people in the developed western nations no longer believe in the instition of marriage, so the 7th house can also indicate long-term living together arrangements.

People who do marry in western developed nations (subtracting particular religious and ethnic groups) tend to marry later in life compared with 40 years ago, such that the average age of marriage for American women today is 27; and for American men, 29 years of age. Meaning that half of all Americans today get married for the first time after these ages. Well, this puts a post-30 first marriage more into the mainstream than into the margins.

astrology has to be put into the context of the culture of the "native."

hermetic,

but what if information there is contradictory?

You follow the rule of testimonies. But in the case of Saturn, without his placement directly in the House, the cusp will show the corporature of the individual.Another delay to marriage would be a retrograde Planet.

have Moon in 7th that could say early marriage, but Capricorn on the cusp,

The Moon doesnt necessarily indicate an early marriage but because the Moon rules frequency it -can- illustrate multiple marriages (if it were in a fertile sign as well and there was a fertile sign on the cusp as well as the Lord being fertile & etc. again testimonies). But in general, Capricorn will add a sense of restraint connected to marriage but it will not put it off as Saturn would. I hope that answers your question.

This is a great post. I'm amateur so struggling with alot of things right now, but even I got the jist of it. I agree with u as a junior student that 'Life is set' & I've seen in my life that astrology predictions do come true but honestly despite me trying to prove them wrong, I have always enjoyed the post-effects of it. :D Pleased to be part of this community & a student of the subject. :joyful:
