For instance I have a kite in my chart, but my progressed sun would be the opposition planet..do progressed planets apply?

4leafclovah, I moved your thread to this section because you had posted in the fixed stars department which has nothing to do with what you want to know. Progressions seems a better Forum for your post.

Of course progressed planets can activate natal planets. Any planet going over another one in transit or progression or Solar Arc direction, can have an impact on the existing aspect, especially if you have a Sun and the Progr. Sun conjuncts it. This will indeed activate the whole kite strongly.

Thanks again Starlink and Yellowstone! ( sorry wrong category)
I just had a realization last night when I was working on my chart that the opposition has driven me to develop the abilities in my kite, which from what I have read is exactly what is supposed to happen with this configuration. I was never aware of this until now!! Have you experienced this yet with any of your patterns? any examples???

From what I have observed, in general when an aspect forms in a progression and it is the same aspect you have in your natal chart, it becomes very powerful. What's more, if you have a challenging aspect natally and a progressed aspect forms a positive aspect with the same two planets, it can neutralize things with the challenging natal aspect.

The sure do. You'll see progressed planets move into t-squares, grand crosses, trines/grand trines, yods and many other configurations.

Transiting planets will do the same.

If you don't have SolarFire, then I'd recommend Configuration Hunter. You can down-load it for free. That'll help you find transiting configurations, and also transits (and progressions) that cap off configurations in your natal chart.

Bob, thanks for that suggestion. That program might help me see some things in the chart I may have missed...:)

I agree Starlink. Secondary progressions are a very important part of consultations for clients, and is one of the areas I also specialize in. Jusr before, and during any strong progressions it is important to cultivate an attitude based on the particular planet or planets, depending on if they are favorable or unfavorable. I have found that when this is done, progressions are better managed over their transit runs through a cycle.

Everything said here is of course correct, but the subtle nature of progressed energies has not yet been discussed/illustrated.

For example, I have the kite formation shown in the chart below - and this was triggered by a continuous progression of the Sun to the four points from age 30 to age 38 (opposed Uranus/conjunct Jupiter/trine NN/trine Saturn). These turned out to be my most successful career years, culminating at age 38 in the highest level of office that I ever achieved. But, during that period, I also experienced my first Saturn Return and several important transits of the slow-moving planets that "signposted" the individual steps to success along the way.

So, I guess I'm saying here that progressions provide a "backcloth" against which the specific/transit events unfold during the period of it's activity - rather than impacting on the natal chart as a clearly identifiable event in itself.

(4LC - as always, your apparently straightforward question is very deep.)

EJ, I try not to get too deep but sometimes it just happens;)
