Sombre, philosophical, yet feeling close to enlightenment...

It is said that destiny leads the willing but drags the resistors.

I try and work with destiny, I don't know about anyone else, but I think that generally speaking, going with the flow of destiny and being co-operative with situations and people, is a kind of working with destiny.

Each Natal Chart has a particular destiny. This seems to be what I have learnt, it's the BASIC premise of Astrology. The fact that if you KNEW each and every little nuance, every asteroid and every possible combination, every transit, every single event and interaction between an infinity of different charts... you would have a CLEAR vision of the INEVITABLE.

But in order to know it all you need to be GOD. Or at least All knowing, all present, and all powerful... in other words... God.

The fact that everyone has a birth chart, means that everyone has a destiny to fulfill. And my definition is that of destiny as being a past tense JUDGMENT.

The way i live my life is to be optimistic and approach things with a positive attitude. Even though it looks stand-offish. I have learnt a little how to let go and just go with the flow becuase everything is possibility.

I believe it's possible to choose destiny. And even if you are denied. As long as you want it enough, it is yours. You just have to be clear about what you want.

Here's the question I suppose: Define astrology in terms of destiny, of inevitability, it seems determinitic at times. And our collective and individual understanding of the subject can never and will never be 100%... All the best modern astrologers after all give increasingly generalised meanings rather than specifics because they are aware of the ELEMENTAL qualities of Astrological phenomena, and that these qualities like the universe itself is underpinned by a mental plane of existence which brings creation of reality through thought and emotion... thought and emotion which are not even based in human beings, but floating about in the clouds in the weather.

Yeah looks like rain, could even be a storm... but where is the lightning gonna strike??? To me that's astrology.... you're no way in hell going to predict where it's gonna strike. It's the tree in the forest. The best thing you can do is to be nice and give advice and look at people as people.

There's a tree in the forest sure there is, and it's got your name on it... but you just got to keep searching until you find it.

For me, the Universe provides everything the Soul needs to achieve the destination mapped out in the natal chart. And, we can choose at any time to pursue those needs rather than our ego wants/desires - believing until then that freewill is about pursuing the latter.

"Blessed are they who achieve astrological maturity by the first Saturn Return and the Soul destination by the second Saturn Return - for they shall be content."

You pose some difficult questions, Night Sky - a sure sign that your destiny is to be content.

I perhaps have reached a point where I no longer simply view the world in terms which relate solely to me. I see other people's over-self involvement as unevolved... and dislike it when I exhibit those qualities.

Having said this... in order to function and contribute something to the world, you got to have yourself figured out first... which is a journey that only few are willing to take. "know yourself and be true to yourself"...

I don't know about the soul. I don't know about what's beyond what we see.

I am interested in knowing that the "force" to quote the Jedi, or "God" is a benevolent/good/not completely indifferent force.

I am not inclined towards nihilism or any of those modern concepts which say that you create your own reality... 6 billion people all on their own with their own misguided egos do not "create their own reality".

Humanity is connected to the invisible forces, there is "more" out there than what we know of. (And I hope that it stays that way.)

We are given physical bodies in order to accomplish something physical in the world. We derive purpose from each other in a way and are reliant on physical "Achievments" whether they incline towards the mysterious, or towards the spiritual or not they are rooted in "doing" stuff.

Destiny on the other hand. Astrology has a nice comforting system, telling us that things are able to develop and change...

I very much like your philosophy, and have thought along these lines myself for some years now - but with a strong belief that "Soul development" is the purpose of life.

Currently, my view is all that really matters when our life is over is to know we tried to learn those lessons which the Soul came here to learn. However, such learning involves interaction with others - and we have physical bodies to achieve this. Astrology then provides a map/list of Soul objectives that enables us to "interact with intent" - to pursue our learning consciously rather than unconsciously. So, we can achieve our purpose by changing nothing/no-one in this life other than ourselves.

And I see nothing in my view that conflicts with your own - so, maybe we are both "destined to be content".
