Hey all
I hope this is the right area to be asking this question!
Can anyone kindl explain the difference between a Davison relationship chart and composite + synastry charts?
Thanks in anticipation!

Very timely question 5th House moon! I myself was struggling trying to figure out this Davison chart definition. Well after some research today, I was able to figure it out. So here's my take on all of these relationship schemas.
First synastry is simply overlaying one's planet positions to the partner's chart and visa versa. Example, your Venus, Pluto and Mars are in my 8th house..whoopee we're gonna have fun tonight (ok maybe need your sun and moon in my 5th too  ). However my Saturn sits on your Mars Venus conjunction in the 1st house and squares your Mars in 8..whoopee goes to whoops....please get out of my face.
Composite chart is taking each other's planetary positions and finding the midpoint and plotting them into a chart that has the midheaven midpoint and the house cusps based on the location where the relationship exists. So now your 0 Virgo Sun and 0 Pisces Moon meets my 0 Sag Sun and 0 Gemini Moon to make our 15 degree Libra Sun and our 15 degree Aries Moon (which really could operate as a conjunction because of 150 degree rule but that's another story). Anyway the point is tow people create a third joint chart with all the midpoints and can be read like a natal chart in most respects including the transits and effects thereof.
Now the Davison chart is quite the interesting approach. This chart looks at the actual time and date each other were born and finds the tame and date exactly in the middle. This is a very cool approach as it has similarities to the composite approach but you can actually progress positions based on what retrogrades were in play at this space/time midpoint. I did a chart on my wife and I using this method and found that the composite and the Davision view were very different. A venus/Saturn conjunction for instance turned into a Mercury/Saturn Conjunction with Jupitor and Pluto also conuncting and forming a Yod to apex Moon conjunct the ascendant...no wonder we feel ..umh stuck together.
Anyway..as always, experiment and play with the differnet systems to see what resonates.
