View Full Version : Few Horary Interpretation questions

I was doing some reading on horary intepretation and have a few questions:

"The Significator for the Querent is the planet ruling the 1st house of the chart"
1st house ruler is Mars in the natural wheel.
Now if the horary chart I drew up has AC in Scorpio, what will be the planet ruling in this case? Would it still be the natural house ruler ie., Mars or would be Pluto?

Similarly, if my question pertains to pregnancy, I would be looking at the 5th house. Now if I have Cancer in 5th house, would it be Sun(natural house ruler) or would be it be the Moon?

Also, how should I calculate the number of degrees between the signifcators for an aspect?

Let's take this one step at a time. ;)

"The Significator for the Querent is the planet ruling the 1st house of the chart"
1st house ruler is Mars in the natural wheel.

This is actually incorrect. The co-significator of the First house in the so-called "natural wheel" is Saturn. In horary, we're forced to stick with traditional astrological philosophy for the best answers.

Now if the horary chart I drew up has AC in Scorpio, what will be the planet ruling in this case? Would it still be the natural house ruler ie., Mars or would be Pluto?

It would be the ruling planet of Scorpio, who is Mars. Horary astrology doesn't accept the outer planets as new rulers for their supposed Signs since horary is dependant on the entirety of the scheme of planetary dignities and debilities. The outer planets are devoid of this scheme, because of this, they are mostly useless in horary.

Similarly, if my question pertains to pregnancy, I would be looking at the 5th house. Now if I have Cancer in 5th house, would it be Sun(natural house ruler) or would be it be the Moon?

You are correct, pregnancy questions always take the Fifth house into account. If Cancer falls on the cusp of the Fifth house, then we take the Moon. Again, you're following modern astrology's astrological alphabet which does not coorespond with traditional astrological philosophy who has Venus as co-significator of the Fifth house, not the sun.

Also, how should I calculate the number of degrees between the signifcators for an aspect?

Could you clairify this question please? At first I read it as "how do I know what aspect is being formed" but now I'm thinking you may be asking a question about orbs, so I want to make sure before I answer. :)

Thank you so much Mr.Senshi, about 2-3 hours after I asked this question, I finally understood how to determine which planet rules which house. So I'm kinda clear with that.

However, I still wanna know, to determine the degree between significators?
For ex., in one of my posts, one of the members said, there is about a 6 degree between Mars and Jupiter to reach other other by trine. How do we determine this? I dont know much about orbs yet, so am not sure if my question and question abt orbs are inter-related.

Also, I see in my horary chart, a matrix displayed below on the left hand side corner.

Now say for eg., I have, Sun - 27Can55'0"

What do the numbers here stand for? ie., 27, 55 and 0?
Also in the matrix I see which planet forms what aspect with another planet.
However, how do I know which aspect is gonna occur first, which next and so on and so forth.
Also the matrix below which shows the aspects has some other text such as -2S, 10A etc..

hi newbie,

"What do the numbers here stand for? ie., 27, 55 and 0?"

The astrological wheel, like any circle, has 360 degrees. 360 divided by 12 houses equals 30. So each house gets 30 degrees. Imagine this if you will: I’ve read that the tail of the crab rises first over the Eastern horizon, so the sun in your chart would be right at or near the head of the crab. Think of the degrees as measurements of distance, so that in your example, the sun is 27 degrees into Cancer, which is telling you that it’s traversed across 90% (27 out of 30 degrees) of the constellation’s body, from it’s tail to its head. My natal sun is at about 16 degrees cancer, so it is positioned in the middle of the constellation's body at the time of my birth. I think that the other numbers (55' and 0") are merely finer numbers, like going from inches to centimeters...but I may be wrong. I am curious to know if they actually depict how far above or below a planet is in relation to our solar system's elliptical axises.

"Also in the matrix I see which planet forms what aspect with another planet.
However, how do I know which aspect is gonna occur first, which next and so on and so forth."

If you imagine the chart as the face of a clock and the planets moving around it as the hands on the clock, only they are going counter clockwise. So instead of having hour, minute, and second hands, we have mars, moon, venus, pluto pacing themselves around the clock. If you become familiar with how quickly or slowly planets traverse, you’ll be able to see which aspects will be occurring when.

It’s helpful to get a calendar (look on amazon.com for Llewellyn’s or Mark Lerner’s) that has daily transits and aspects. Their calandars have been really helpful for me along with continuing to check out the daily transits and moon’s aspects on the home page of this forum’s website.

I don’t know where you’re seeing the -2S or 10A or what they represent.
I see a matrix for aspects on my own chart from astro.com. I just don’t see those figures.

I hope this helps...i'm new to astrology as well.
