This isn't a particularly important occassion, but I find it incredibly amusing that the sabian symbol for the Sun's is: The meeting of a literary society.

Before I discovered this, I followed a link I received from a new friend to my college's Literature Club!

Of all the days I could have received and explored this link, it was today!

Isn't serendipity wonderful? I'd join that club if I were you! It can only be auspicious, suspicious or coincidence. :D

AM, I love the Sabian Symbols and looked at some of them today. I have a question though. You know that a planet at lets say 12.35 degrees will have to be rounded up to 13°. But what about a planet which goes retrograde?
Do you then also round up or do you in that case round them down?
So 12.35° retrograde being changed into 11°? What is your experience here?

Cheers, Starlink

Yes Starlink, I've pondered this also...
As the degree in question is symbolically the same at any given designated point in the Zodiac the question of whether or not the Orb [or Node] in question is retro or direct makes no difference...'If you are on Elm St. if front of the post office it makes no difference if the car is in Forward or Reverse...you are still on Elm St. in front of the post office." but as these symbolic influences Meld or Morph one into the other [ the Universe is 'Analog' not 'Digital'] the only question is how much influence from the applying degree is in effect compared to an Orb at the exact same point in the Zodiac as another Orb in seperation...it's is too ephemeral to say but obviously the approaching degree would grow in influence as opposed to waning for the other...
The thing to remind people of the Symbols is [and I already stated this but really want to emphasize it] that they Morph or Meld one into the other.
Somewhat like a planet on the exact house cusp...which house do you assign it to [if not both, as I believe it should along with the majority of Astrologers I am told] or to which house do you give the precedent influnce?
...besides, think about it...if you have a Planet at , say 0* Aquarius 25' 10' you don't read the symbol for 0* Aquarius as there isn't any... 00* 00' 01" to 01* 00' 00" of any sign is the first degree...there is no 00* 00' 00" of any degree. That co-ordinate would in reality be 30* 00' 00" of the previous sign. It procedes thus ....29* 59' 59", then comes 30* 00' 00", followed by 00* 00' 01" [it's just a question of what nurmericlature we agree on for that co-ordinate; and the consensus now is that there is no 00* 00' 00" only 30* 00' 00"...but it just as easily could have been agreed to to have it the other way around as we could have agreed there is no 30* 00' 00" and it only goes up to 29* 59' 59" and thus the next increment would then be 00* 00' 00"...[it is a question of where we mark that infinitestimal fraction of a moment, thus even 01" is misleading...it would in reality be 00* 00' 00.0000000000000....1" as to where the next degree and symbol begins...how far down can you keep splitting a second?]

Kind of like the old question many a small child has asked,..."When it's exactly mid-night is it still today or is it tomorrow?"...in relation to the same way we reckon the Zodiac and the signs it would be considered today... and tomorrow would begin at 12:00':00.0000....1" am...I hope this was a good asimile...it gets confusing for some many.
