Hi all,
Okay, okay. As most of you know I'm probably the biggest skeptic of the ***-teroids around here, and I have a million and one very good reasons for that.
None the less, I can't help being curious, but that doesn't mean my opinion can easily be swayed and I ask this out of curiosity only.
I read the interpretations of Beth's Vesta conjunct Uranus, and as she seemed to relate to this quite keenly - and I can't believe I'm saying this - what does my Ceres exactly conjunct Mars in Scorpio 8th mean in my chart? (yep, the Mars that's conjunct Uranus )
Also, how can the goddess of the harvest and the fertile earth beneath our feet be transcribed to a bit of barren rock in space? (I just love a good debate )

Hi Draco,
This is from http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/Ceres21.1.html
Ceres Aspects Mars: Energy, action, and nurturing combined. This person feels nurtured through physical action, adventure, and even combat. When it comes to nurturing others, they can dive right in and nurture you whether you want them to or not. The stressful aspects (square, opposition, and, here, the conjunction as well) are an indicator that the early nurturing tended to be in conflict with the need for assertion. The parents could have withheld nurturing when the child was in an angry mood, causing the anger to be repressed. Conversely, at least one parent could have expressed anger at the child's nurturing needs, affecting the child's sense of self-worth. Adults with the stressful Mars/Ceres aspects may get angry when asked to nurture others. They may even get angry when they have to nurture themselves!

It took me quite a few searches, but I finally found a description of your Ceres-Mars conjunction borrowed from an Astrological Report for Antonio Banderas (http://www.thedreamtime.com/spirit/ast_asteroids_abanderas.html).
Mars Conjunct Ceres:
Your Ceres is conjunct Mars. Mother/daughter meets the masculine god of war! You associate nurturance with the affirmation of assertiveness, and the encouragement of one's fighting spirit and warrior skills. You will fight for what you care about, like a kind of parental crusader. Your sense of self-confidence is strongly colored by your experience (or lack of experience) of maternal bonding, and by the formation and severance of strong emotional ties. Any such experience will foster in you a defensive attitude towards others who struggle with themes of loss and return. You nurture others by affirming their independence, boosting their sense of self-confidence, and encouraging them to stand on their own two feet.
Also, there is a description of Ceres in the Eighth House.
I hope this helps...and don't worry, I'm not going to try to change your opinion about ***-teroids

Realized I have Ceres conjunct Mars as well in Aries with the Moon also in the 2nd house. I think I would fight hard for what I cared about / what I value / what I hold to be true (Neptune rules the 2nd and in the 9th).

Hi,
Thanks both of you for your responses. Sorry I am so late in getting back, I have had a virus and needed the system wiped in order to get rid of it so I haven't been on line for a few days.
I suppose I can relate to what is quoted about Ceres conjunct Mars. I found it interesting consideration.
I still don't get how a goddess of the fertile earth is represented in a barren bit of rock way out there beyond our visual perception, but still it was an interesting read.
Cheers.
Draco
