View Full Version : When will I conceive my first baby?
newbie

Lemme try first.
My Asc falls at 22 degrees and so my chart is valid.
Moon is not VOC. So that is also Ok.
I have Jupiter in the 1st house which generally signifies luck, ease of working etc.
My first house is in sagitarius.
My fifth house is in Taurus.
My first house ruler Mars is in the 8th house which is ruled by Leo which is a barren sign.
My 5th house ruler Sun is placed in the 7th house which is ruled by Cancer which is a fertile sign.
Ok, now beyond that, I dont know how to interpret the chart(matrix) on the left hand side. Can someone explain that to me?
However, based on the above, am unable to interpret the answer to my question, "when will I conceive my first baby?"

Hi there, newbie (what happens to your name after you've been here awhile?:D ),
What is your chart data? For those of us with pictorial brains, a list of aspects means nothing. Time/date/place, please, so I can make myself a picture to look at!
Thanks,
AG:)

Hello!
I had to edit my post because I drew up the wrong chart!
oh yeah! regarding the name, I never even gave it a thought.
not very smart huh?
oh, I have to mention this as well....your website came in highly recommended by a few of my friends here.
I started learning astrology from them and oh man! I have to admit, I've never been so surprised by the science that's invovled in these interpretations.

Thanks for attaching the chart.
I guess I have to ask a couple of questions first.
a) are you actually trying to conceive? Or just curious? and
b) if yes, have you had problems so far?
The reason I ask is that it is unusual to have the question ask 'when', especially if it's the first baby we're talking about. Most usually people ask these sorts of questions when they've been trying, with no luck. Usually, it's just 'Will I...' as opposed to 'When will I...'..so I'm a bit curious.
Would you mind filling us in?
Thanks a bunch,
AG:)

Yes. I've been trying to conceive for more than a year now with no luck and I'm seeing a doctor.
There is considerable improvement in the problem that was detected earlier this year.
Also, for the past one month, I feel physically and mentally energetic. Also, a month ago, I was very disturbed. Now I'm more at peace and generally happy.
Also, could you tell me how to interpret the table(matrix) on the left hand side of the chart?

Hi newbie,
To explain the matrix on the chart would take a long time! Basically, it's just a table of aspects; but for horary, you don't really need it, since we only look at whether aspects are applying or separating, not where they're 'sitting' currently.
To answer your question, I think it's best to say, 'Not any time soon'. That doesn't mean that you won't conceive! But you asked the question 'when', and there are no applying aspects between you (Jupiter), the Moon, or Venus, the 5th ruler, that could give us an indication of pregnancy.
Incidentally, it doesn't look like you are infertile; you have Taurus on the 5th cusp, and Venus is in fertile Cancer. The problem is, Venus is combust; this shows your problems conceiving.
Your ruler Jupiter is also not in great shape; in fall, and retrograde; I wonder if you feel ambivalent, somehow, or you might even change your mind? You say a month ago you were 'disturbed'; disturbed how? If you are having anxiety issues or something like that, it can affect your ability to conceive. People who are stressed out are less fertile than those who are relaxed. Neither the Moon nor Jupiter are in fertile signs right now, which makes me think that you will have to wait a bit longer... it's always my advice to *stop trying* and just enjoy the space you're in, but this is difficult for most women to do. So hang in there.
Best of luck.

hmm.....so I have more waiting to do huh?
that *****!
And that's precisely why I'm disturbed and upset.
All my friends who started trying for a baby are due this year. They tried early this year and are already half way through their pregnancy.
I've been trying for atleast 1yr 9 months and nothing so far.
Tell me, who can not feel upset about this?
Lot of people tell me not to stress, but my heart aches for a little one.
When I said I've been feeling better for the past one month it is because of various aspects. My job front looks good, people who've been causing me trouble are moving out, I've tried 100% not to think about babies this month and hence was more relaxed and it being summer now, I'm having fun.....so this month has been the best in this year so far.
But it's tough to hear the answer that I still have some more time to wait before I have that lil' one! :(

Hi newbie,
Look, having a baby isn't a contest you have with your friends; you cannot expect to compare yourself with them (and find yourself 'losing') and be happy. It took my best friend nearly three years to conceive; and baby came when she least expected it and had sort of given up on the idea. This happens, over and over again.
You might want to stop *trying* to try not to think about babies (does that make sense?). The Universe gives us both what we desire, but also what we resist. So, if you are focused on how everyone around you has a baby, and you don't, chances are likely that this will continue. If instead, when your friends have their babies, you simply love your friends' babies and help them out during the first difficult weeks, and simply feel love for 'babies' in general, things might change.
There is a real order in the Universe. My sister-in-law had twins, many years ago now. I fell totally in love with my new niece and nephew; but especially my nephew. So my SIL let me 'practice' being a Mum on the twins: feeding them, changing nappies, dressing them, holding them. I felt such love for these little people! 8 months later, I conceived my son, completely unexpectedly; even though I hadn't been using birth control for a long, long time and had never conceived before.
So don't give up. Just try to put your attention to feeling love, instead of lack. There's hope yet.
Best,
AG:)

yeah....I totally agree with you.
Infact my bro and my sil too had a baby last year after 4 yrs of trying.
So my SIL understands what I'm going through all too well.
She was telling me the exact same thing.
She asked me to come over to her place and spend time with her son. Ofcourse, they are far away from where I live and I would have to switch jobs to stay at their place, so that is not possible.
I'll try my best to think positive. But it's so difficult when you hear your friends say they are going shopping to get themselves some maternity clothes or that they babies are kicking them and it feels good...etc...etc...
Anyways......my turn will come too....I know that......but the pain, the aching and the longing for having a baby is so intense!
Oh btw, I wanted to ask you what you meant when you said "Venus is combust".

'Combust' means that a planet is within 8 degrees of the Sun; a very malefic placement. Combustion 'burns up' whatever planet is there, and makes it unable to act. So in your chart, Venus, your fertility, is in fertile Cancer, but she is also 4 degrees away from the Sun; so, while fertile, the fertility is unable to 'act' right now.
Don't worry. There will be better days. Maybe it will help you if you go shopping with your friends, and pick out clothes for their babies. That way, you are investing some energy into the idea of 'baby', but in a happy, giving way. It won't stop you from longing for your own, but it might bring you a little bit of pleasure in the meantime.

Thank you so much for your help!
Also, could you please suggest some good websites where I could learn horary astrology?
I've been though skyscript and moonvalley, but I couldnt understand much from there.
Also, is it prerequisite to know natal astrology before horary can be learnt?

Hi newbie,
Actually, IMO the Skyscript site is the absolute best site for learning horary, or any other form of astrology. It has vast, vast resources, from articles to quizzes, tables, and charts to practice on. Try the horary tutorial! The nice thing is, you can do it over and over until you get the right answers.:p
Aquamoonlight Astrology has some good information. There are many sites to choose from.
Horary astrology is actually much easier than natal astrology. I would start with horary, and THEN go to natal. I learned it the other way around, so I had to 'un-learn' a lot of natal stuff before I understood horary.
Two books I'd recommend:
The Horary Textbook by John Frawley
Christian Astrology Books 1 & 2 by William Lilly. If you have a zip drive, you can actually download a free online copy of CA from mithras93 (type 'mithras93' into Google and you'll get the site). Otherwise, a good paper copy will set you back about 30 bucks, I think. They're all over the Web; you can get them on Amazon.

Hey AG,
I was doing some reading on the skyscript site.
http://www.skyscript.co.uk/pregnancy.html
There is a section on timing.
I was going through that section and asked the question, how long before I have my first child at 12:56 pm today.
I drew up a chart for the same.
Now per the instructions on skyscript, it says, judge by the house position of the 5th ruler.
5th ruler is the sun and the chart I drew up showed sun in the 10th house.
Does it mean it will take 10 yrs before I have my first one?
I hope I'm wrong!

Hi newbie,
The second question you asked is fundamentally the same as the first one you asked. Horary is clever; it generally won't 'allow' you to do that, although people still try. Typically of 'second-time' questions, you will get a fuzzy answer, or the chart will try to give you the same answer as you got before, but in a different way.
Notice that the degrees on the Ascendant are very early; less than 3. This is classic warning: the question is premature, it's 'too soon to tell'.
I don't know what your relationship situation is; presumably you have a steady partner. The Moon, in the 5th, is moving to oppose Mars, who is in the 11th. Mars in this chart would rule your significant other. What this might suggest is some differences of opinion, or just simply 'not being on the same page', something like that, regarding the whole childbearing thing. This is only a suggestion, however. The early ascendant warns us from looking too deeply at this chart. The situation is developing and there is probably information that you are 'missing' somehow.
The thing to do is put the question away for awhile. In this society, where we take 'waiting' as an imperative of minutes, and not weeks or months as in Lilly's time, putting things away is challenging, but not impossible.
Best,
AG:)

AG,
Thank you so much for the reply.
I think I have some reading to do before I analyze any further. Else, I'm gonna get worried.
Is there some way to determine how the planetary positions have affected me in the past few days? Reason I ask is, I was so happy until Saturday and Saturday was a sudden, all time low, after almost a month of happiness.
Regarding the relationship with my hubby, my disappointment and my frustration regarding me unable to have children so far is kinda affecting our relationship. What I mean by this is, instead of letting it be and let things take its own course, am pondering way too much about it and not enjoying my time with my hubby. I do realize that and that's why in the last one month, I've tried my best not to bother myself too much about when I'll have a baby. Hence, June so far was superb for me, except this downward slide since Saturday.
Hubby too desperately wants a baby. But he doesnt show it. He tries telling me that if we let things be the way they are, it will happen. He tells me not to stress so much about it, especially considering that I do have a medical problem, he says, atleast give your body time to heal and then it will happen.
I guess I was just expecting miracles!
I have a question.
Given a chart which has sun in the 4th house, how do we determine what planets aspect the sun?

thanks Sunny!
Most of the times I try to control my emotions, but sometimes they get the better of me.
Anyways, there's not much that I can do however. So I'll just let it be the way it is!
