Israel-Lebanon conflict - astrological insight
Saturn-Pluto cycle
This article is written on July 27, 2006, as Israeli destruction of Lebanon's infrastruction goes on, targeting indiscriminatingly civilians, of which many children.
It all happens as the Saturn-Pluto cycle reached the sesquisquare (135 degrees) bringing mass destruction (Pluto) to buildings (Saturn).
Last time this cycle reached the opposition we've got the WTC bombings, the Afghanistan and Iraq wars leading to the destruction of these countries' infrastructure and loss of so many civilians lives.

This cycle is just so descriptive of major clashes and violent events. Kathryn Cassidy's blog explains very well the way planetary cycles determine actually repetitive patterns in history.
Israel-Lebanon conflict
Looking to the astrological influences on July 12, 2006, the day when the ongoing Middle East conflict started, there're some ideas I'd like to share.
Israel justifies the current campaign of Lebanon destruction as a reaction to a Hezbollah attack on an Israeli patrol on Israeli soil, capturing 2 soldiers. But early Associated Press reports and some other sources claim otherwise, that the capture took place inside Lebanese territory.
Transits on Israel's natal chart clear up this matter: on July 12, 2006, transiting Mars at 23 Leo is in opposition with Israel natal Lilith at 22 Aquarius. A previous study on America's pretexts for wars demonstrates that the transits to natal Lilith at the start of a war represent good astrological indicators of false justification.
In this case, transiting Mars opposing natal Lilith suggest an inexistent unprovoked aggression as a reason for a such violent reaction. Israel has long prepared for this war and the Israeli soldiers war have trespassed the border into Lebanon when they were attacked.
The present conflict has a different trait from previous wars involving Israel. A study on Mars retrograde showed that Israel has so far initiated wars in the following weeks after a Mars retrogradation period. It happened in 1956, 1967, 1978 and 1982. I suspect that it means that Israel uses astrologers to elect the most auspicious moment to go to war. This time it was different, the next direct station of Mars will be on January 30, 2008, too far away.
Still, Israel attacked while Mars was in applying trine with Pluto, a very good aspect for effective warfare. This aspect faded away starting July 14, so Israel needed to start this long-planned war before that date. So, it sent soldiers into Lebanese territory provoking an aggressive reaction from Hezbollah, which was later misleadingly used in propaganda war.
Another noteworthy detail is that both the present conflict and the 1982 war to Lebanon started on retrograde Mercury. In both cases, there was a short-term objective to be reached, that is pushing the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) - in 1982 and Hezbollah - in 2006, from south Lebanon, to the north, so that they couldn't reach Israel. But on both cases, the long-term strategy is blurry and objectives are very hard to reach, Mercury-retrograde style. This is why, most chances are that the current conflict will not end quickly.
